These cases are absolutely inundating dockets across the country and have been since July. Operation Metro Surge in Minnesota has been a key driver of new cases lately. Earlier: https://t.co/APhNwUq53Z

The 8th circuit panel that brushed back DOJ? One Obama appointee, two Trump appointees.
Importantly though, one of those Trump appointees said DOJ clearly had probable cause for the arrests — they just had other means to get the warrants authorized.

@kyledcheney Good Lord.
No reason to arrest, no reason to hold, but refusing to release nonetheless.
Maybe ICE can't find lawyers to answer these cases?
@kyledcheney you should add the other note - the judge ordered release and to not move him outside of MN. the feds both moved him to texas, are refusing to cooperate, AND have denied access to his lawyer
I’m speaking out now because the rule of law is what holds our society together and is a functional prerequisite to our prosperity.
And I have seen no sign whatsoever that this administration cares even a little bit about the rule of law, or the truth.
An Operation PARRIS arrest means he was a full-blown refugee with 100% lawful status, on a clear path directly to a green card and eventual citizenship.
With Operation PARRIS DHS is arresting recently-arrived refugees and sending them to Texas to be interrogated and “re-vetted.”
Here's another ruling in Minnesota, also yesterday, releasing a man who was forcefully detained by ICE despite having *active* refugee status. https://t.co/JVmI4Uzdyr

NEW: Saturday's shooting prompted a frantic rush to the courts by Minnesota officials to demand legal restrictions on ICE agents' use of force — and an outright block on Operation Metro Surge.
They were bolstered by harrowing witness affidavits.
