This is great news, I’m going to reach out to SecVA office and get more details. This has been a huge problem since the last Obama Admin. The only relief came with VA Choice and taking my care away from the bureaucracy and to Hanger Prosthetics.
@kurtbardella@HASCDemocrats People who don’t understand military bearing, grooming and fitness standards should probably sit down this week. There will be something else to argue about in two days I’m sure of it!
@stephrenee81@kgreene90@DanLamothe@AlexHortonTX You do realize if they aren’t meeting the standards they’re probably on a weight program? This means they aren’t meeting military standards and in danger of being kicked out. This means they aren’t “good enough” (your verbiage) because they’re on probation.
Watching everyone have a meltdown over troops being required to meet lawful military standards in order to receive an invite to participate in the White House UFC fight is ridiculous, IMO.
Yes, there are grooming and fitness standards. These aren’t a secret — it’s laid out before they raise their hand and they go through weigh-ins and fitness tests throughout the year. If someone doesn’t meet those standards, leadership is well within their rights to bar them from participating in this special opportunity. Just like it can impact their advancement, deployments, etc.
Can we move on?
@kgreene90@DanLamothe@AlexHortonTX You’re welcome to feel how you feel. The standards exist and the leaders are within their scope of power to say only those meeting said standards are eligible. 🤷🏻♀️
@stephrenee81@kgreene90@DanLamothe@AlexHortonTX They are still representing the United States Armed Forces. It doesn’t matter how mad it makes you — they have requirements and why would leaders want troops not meeting standards essentially on the world stage given it will be televised.
Calm down.
Why don’t you talk to some active duty guys and see how they feel when they see photos circulating of people in uniform not meeting standards that get widespread. There are expectations in the military with grooming and fitness, they know it when they raise their right hand.
I know how my husband feels when a photo goes viral of someone representing his branch when they aren’t following standards.
This is a nothing burger, calm down.
My husband is active duty. Meeting standards is part of being in the military. If someone is on a weight program there almost in a form of probation where they can get kicked out. Why would someone technically in trouble be given an opportunity over folks who are meeting all requirements?
Troops have always gotten unique opportunities like this. I remember helping the Kelly Clarkson show do something similar though not as w citing as UFC. From my end the only thing that’s different now versus 3 years ago is that they’re ensuring troops shown on camera are meeting standards given they will essentially be a “face” of the military. Not unreasonable.
