Attending #COSP12 was a life changing experience where I met many insightful people and learnt so much about creating an inclusive society. Thank you to everyone who supported my attendance @GLP_MQ @Macquarie_Uni@QldAdvocacy@SpeechPathAus@SharynneMcLeod
Dominique Kantor -
“We need everyone who works in schools to transform the environment. If we don’t go to school it is difficult to participate later in life.” #CSFCRPD#COSP16CRPD#CRPD@IDA_CRPD_Forum
A common thread throughout many interventions #CSFCRPD when discussing gaps of the implemention of the CRPD:
1. Involving persons with psychosocial disabilities
2. Provision of assistive technology
3. Involving women and girls with disability #COSP16CRPD@IDA_CRPD_Forum#CRPD
Provoking thought by Dominique Kantor #CSFCRPD - organisations are not inclusive in meetings, but when they think about adapting for people who don’t speak the language they become inclusive: 1. Information prior to meetings 2. Speak slowly 3. Time for response #COSP16CRPD
2/ “Training of teachers and strengthen education management in relation to children with disabilities is important to inclusive education” @GopalMitra2030
“It is not by choice that people with disabilities are in institutions… People with disabilities are disproportionately found in institutions…. Invest in more inclusive solutions.” - Bhargavi Davar #CSFCRPD#CRPD#COSP16CRPD@IDA_CRPD_Forum
An interesting thought provoked by Esma Gumberidze at the #CSFCRPD Social media is not going to be inclusive by default. We need to make a conscious effort to ensure it’s inclusive. Examples provided were screen readers not being able to access teams @IDA_CRPD_Forum#COSP16#CRPD
Inclusion and implementing the CRPD is not just something that happens in a day or just from one person. “Civil society’s role cannot be underestimated… I hope that the enthusiasm we’re building today will continue into our work after here” @gofefoame#COSP16CRPD#CSFCRPD#CRPD
Day 1 at the United Nations for the Conference of States Parties on the CRPD. I’m looking forward to being part of the discussion surrounding the implementation of the CRPD across the world!

This quote really resonated with me and makes me excited to be writing my thesis on teacher's perceptions of children's rights for students with disabilities #ChildRights#InclusiveEducation#ECAconference 2/2
Today at the #ECAconference on children's rights @AnneHollonds highlighted "Children do not live in isolation, they live in relationships with teachers, parents and friends... those whose jobs are to care for children need to be supported and empowered to do their job well" 1/2
