At a presser at the ROIC in Ewing, @GovSherrillNJ announces “peaceful, protected protest zone” outside Delaney Hall as clashes intensify between protestors and ICE agents — with NJ State Police overseeing it.
“We've seen increasing violence, arrest, and pepper spray at Delaney Hall, as well as public threats from the Trump administration, and we've seen the risk to public safety rising outside of Delaney Hall. It has grown unsafe, and that's completely unacceptable,” said Sherrill
“We know what ICE has done in other states, and we know American citizens lost their lives, and I refuse to let that happen in New Jersey. We all need to do everything we can to cool things down now. I will not give ICE the pretext to expand operations in our state.
“For that reason, New Jersey law enforcement is today establishing a peaceful, protected protest zone in the area right outside Delaney Hall. My administration will be working together with community members, faith leaders, advocates, and state police to help people move there today.
“Our top priority is public safety, and we need to take this opportunity to lower the temperature.”

Completely anecdotal observation that the Kean Jr. FB page seems way more active since people publicly began wondering where the U.S. Representative for New Jersey's 7th Congressional District has been for the past three-ish months.
Had the opportunity to join @SenatorAndyKim as he visited businesses in Monmouth County on Wednesday. This previously scheduled business tour came shortly after Kim was exposed to pepper ball spray amid chaos outside of Delaney Hall
During a sit down interview, Kim discussed the situation, what he saw inside, what detainees told him, and what led to the standoff devolving between protestors and ICE agents

NJ and NY announced a joint investigation into FIFA’s ticketing practices for the #WorldCup. The states' attorneys general cite concerns that fans may have been misled about seat locations and subjected to rapidly escalating prices. https://t.co/dEPaFUXXZr
The New Jersey Department of Health today sought to conduct a health inspection of Delaney Hall, but it was denied full access and was allowed to inspect only a limited part of the facility. We will review and share the Department’s findings from the limited portion it was allowed to inspect, and we will continue to pursue all appropriate avenues for demanding transparency and ensuring humane conditions for the individuals being held at the facility.
As I’ve said repeatedly, refusing to provide full access raises serious questions about what ICE is trying to hide from public view.
New Jersey believes in the rule of law, will uphold the Constitution, and Delaney Hall should be closed down. I am calling for ICE to immediately de-escalate the situation as I continue working to keep New Jersey residents safe.

FWIW ‘darkle’ is a near-antonym of ‘sparkle.’
‘Darkle’ has three meanings:
-"to become clouded or gloomy"
-"to grow dark"
-"to become concealed in the dark"
No one should be allowed to exploit New Jersey fans or those coming to our state for the World Cup.
I applaud Attorneys General Davenport and James for standing up on behalf of consumers and investigating whether they have been misled.
