@fitz_meagan As a teacher and parent, what is the ACTUAL plan for when teachers are absent in droves due to their family having a sore throat or runny nose? The 60 interested retired teachers across Ontario won't do it and I don't want my children exposed to more untested cohorts.

@imgrund Last year we were magical unicorns that couldn't get covid the moment we walked through the school doors because kids couldn't spread it.

Depending on what is needed, we seem to change superpowers fairly regularly.

@Goodchatbud @hrdmapl @MrCee_19 @stefcyclops I believe it cannot be organized by the union at all or people could be jailed. It has to be teachers just doing it in their own.

Right now if I claim unsafe conditions the ministry comes in, says I'm following all protocols and deems it safe.

Ridiculous is an understatement.

@MrsShakell No! They are so ridiculous. We end up awarding kids just so everyone gets an award. Why not focus on self improvement rather than comparing kids to each other and making it a competition.

@imgrund My husband got covid from school. How do we know? In the 48 hours prior to contacting the variant (which a child and 2 educators got from said child) he had NO CONTACT with anyone except work and home.

Anyone who has bought craft supplies for 1 kid knows that $1100 can't sustain necessities (tissue, bandaids) plus the actual materials for authentic play based learning.

@CheriDiNovo WDG PH tells me that I can go back to teaching even though my daughter (and likely son, waiting on results) have Covid. I am recovered from Covid my husband brought home from elementary school. Seems so strange! How does this stop the spread?

We were given youtube links and optional asynchronous seminars which were not mandatory and I found useless and confusing.
