@whynotweets @WalkSafeIO A lot of the police on the doc were male. I’d personally feel a lot more comfortable reporting if there were a special women’s unit within the police to support women. The problem is women trust women, women don’t trust men.
Watched the #c4rape doc last night. As a woman I feel totally let down by the justice system and by society. These women were targets of sex crimes and made to feel as though they did something wrong.
Far too many people do not understand the meaning of consent!
@loosewomen the 888 “app” BT are proposing already exists, it’s called @WalkSafeIO and it’s free to use. Definitely invest the money on more police, that 50 million could pay for 2,000 more officers on the streets!!!
@MissIG_Geek @rachelcoldicutt I’ve passed this to her, she’s on top of it now & she sends her thanks. They don’t monetise WalkSafe in any way currently, however they are looking at monetisation options - but it will not include users paying for the app, data sharing or advertising. She’s very firm on this
@MissIG_Geek @rachelcoldicutt No it actually maps police crime data to show where crimes have happened. Users can also report areas they feel unsafe. It also has a tapsafe function that you can alert a loved one if you feel unsafe. I’d recommend checking it out. It has nothing to do with CCTV or data
@RubiesB4Swine I get what you are saying. It absolutely needs to be on the perpetrators, however, I don’t think as women we can trust right now, when we walk alone at night we will be safe. Apps like WalkSafe shouldn’t have to exist but until drastic changes within society is made, it needs to
