We’re stepping back from X.

At SafeLives, our mission is to end #DomesticAbuse for everyone, for good. We stand with survivors, frontline professionals, and communities fighting for a world free from violence and control.

X is no longer a safe or ethical space. The rise in misogyny, racism, toxic views, and extremist rhetoric on this platform goes against everything we stand for. Survivors of abuse deserve better. Women and girls deserve better.

Violence against women and girls is at epidemic levels in the UK. It is fuelled by attitudes that dehumanise, silence, and harm. 

Free speech is vital, but we believe this platform increasingly allows unmoderated, harmful, and often explicit content to spread, with no clear way to report or block it effectively. That is not a safe space for survivors. We cannot continue to actively use a platform that enables these harms to thrive.

From today, we will no longer be posting or moderating this account. You can still find us on our other social channels or contact us via our website at https://t.co/iPRFNVegie—where we will continue championing survivor voices, advocating for change, and pushing for urgent action to break the cycle of abuse for good.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended our #AuthenticVoice conference this week, celebrating #SurvivorVoice in Scotland.
The biggest thank you goes to our speakers, our workshop facilitators and to our 10 unbelievable Authentic Voice Panel members for their planning, their words and their sheer dedication to ending #DomesticAbuse, for everyone, for good.
Survivor voice must be at the heart and start of all we do. We hope the day gave you inspiration for how we can embed lived experience and work together to improve outcomes for all survivors of domestic abuse.

SafeLives Scotland were honoured to be in Holyrood Park this morning at the unveiling of a new information board at a local cairn.
Built to commemorate Margaret Hall, who was murdered by her husband in 1720, the new board ensures Margaret's story will known by locals and visitors alike. We commend all involved in making this important moment happen.

The Domestic Abuse Court Advocacy Accreditation project aims to improve the experiences of victims/survivors of #DomesticAbuse in Scotland who are engaging with the criminal courts and to improve the confidence and effectiveness of professionals to support victims and survivors.
