There isn’t. In fact, teaching the naming vocabulary while simultaneously introducing a concept can hinder learning because the learner now has to juggle both concepts and the names just when working memory is most fragile. Denominator and numerator being the most famous.
Let us continue to pray for peace, so that wars throughout the world may cease and diplomatic solutions to conflicts may be found. Let us remember all the victims of hostilities, especially the weakest and most defenceless: children, the elderly and the sick. May the Lord comfort those who suffer and bless the work of those who bring aid and consolation.
Let us ask Mary, Queen of Peace, to teach us to renounce hurtful words, hasty judgment, gossip, and slander. May we learn to cherish and nurture love within our families, among friends, in the workplace, on social media, in political debates, and in Christian communities, so that hatred may give way to hope and peace. #ApostolicJourney
#MagnificaHumanitas
.@JamesTalarico: John Cornyn said my plan to lower taxes for working Americans would ’explode the deficit.’ My question to Senator Cornyn is, were you worried about the deficit when you gave $1 trillion in tax cuts to the top 1 percent?
Were you worried about the deficit when you started spending $1 billion a day on this new war in Iran?
John Cornyn is never worried about the deficit when it comes to billionaire tax cuts or new foreign wars — but when we start talking about lowering gas prices for working people, suddenly he's a deficit hawk. We should lower the deficit, and we should do it by closing billionaire tax loopholes and ending this disastrous new war.
John Cornyn has had 40 years in public office. That's longer than I've been alive. And under his leadership, Texans are drowning. The only people doing well are billionaires and defense contractors.
John Cornyn has had 40 years to lower the cost of housing, healthcare, groceries, utilities, and gas. What's the holdup?
This week, classrooms across Texas will go quiet as our kids take flawed, high-stakes tests that fail to reliably measure student achievement while hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars flow to out-of-state, testing corporations. That's not accountability. That's a corrupt system that serves corporate interests not kids.
Pope Leo's Easter message:
"Let those who have weapons lay them down! Let those who have the power to unleash wars choose peace! Not a peace imposed by force, but through dialogue! Not with the desire to dominate others, but to encounter them!"
Christ is risen from the dead, and with him, we too rise to new life! This Easter proclamation embraces the mystery of our lives and the destiny of history, reaching us even in the depths of death. #Easter
This Easter confronts us with a painful truth: many Christians have turned away from the way of the cross. Instead of following the crucified Christ, they align with the empire that crucified him—seeking power and influence.
Pope Leo XIV at the Stations of the Cross: "Every person in authority will have to answer to God for the way they exercise their power." Jesus says. "Whatever you do to another human being, especially to the small and vulnerable, you do unto me. And it is to me that you will one day give an account."

MESSAGE
I wholeheartedly endorse the powerful appeal for peace made by the Holy Father, Pope Leo, during his Palm Sunday Mass. His call for the laying down of arms and the renunciation of violence resonated profoundly with me, as it speaks to the very essence of what all major religions teach.
Indeed, whether we look to Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism, Judaism or any of the world's great spiritual traditions, the message is fundamentally the same: love, compassion, tolerance, and self-discipline. Violence finds no true home in any of these teachings. History has shown us time and again that violence only begets more violence and is never a lasting foundation for peace.
An enduring resolution to conflict, including the ones we see in the Middle East or between Russia and Ukraine, must be rooted in dialogue, diplomacy and mutual respect — approached with the understanding that, at the deepest level, we are all brothers and sisters.
I urge for and pray that the violence and conflicts may soon come to an end.

Pope Leo XIV on Palm Sunday, forcefully denounces those who use God to justify war: “Brothers and sisters, this is our God, Jesus, King of Peace, who rejects war, whom no one can use to justify war. He does not listen to the prayers of those who wage war, but rejects them saying “Though you make many prayers, I will not listen. Your hands are full of blood.”
We need to pray and find time for moments of silence and reflection, in order to quiet the frenzy of doing and saying, of messages, reels and chats, and to delve deeper into and savor the beauty of truly and genuinely being together with God and one another. #ApostolicJourney
Top Ten Reasons Bluebonnet Math is a complete disaster
1. It is based on Eureka Math, which is a common core curriculum.
2. No teacher autonomy - you have to follow scripted lessons.
3. No parent involvement - the strategies are unfamiliar to most parents. How do they help their kids at home?
4. Assessments don't match the lessons. There were some questions on the test that I couldn't find in the lessons where they were taught.
5. It does not teach basic math skills.
6. It focuses on word problems. The majority of kids in public schools will use basic math more often than word problems. In my adult life, how often do I have to solve a word problem? Rarely, if ever. How often do I use basic math? Daily.
7. Who thought it was a good idea to make 2nd-grade math, for example, so complicated that the teacher has to study a script every day just to know how to teach it?
8. It does not establish consistent routines. It moves things around in the lesson.
9. In the first year of implementation, the kids have no foundation in this kind of math. They are lost unless they have very good math skills.
10. Too much emphasis on productive struggle. If a kid doesn't know the math, what good does productive struggle do?
