Just living the dream as a teacher of kids in AP environmental science & anatomy. If you aren't making the world a better place, you're wasting your time.
Imagine a world where we said, what’s going on with the children? So many of them are angry and distressed after school. So many of them are shut in their bedrooms. So many of them are anxious and unhappy. So many of them disillusioned at 15. 1;
As you get ready this morning to take your #apes exam, I need you to remember:
Your score does not define you.
Your score does not determine your future.
You have all learned SOMETHING.
And I am so incredibly proud of you. Now go show off what you can do!

Prior to COVID, my work was on maternal mortality. About 700 birthing people die each year. The federal gov dedicated $100 mill to address this. We have a campaign- chasing zero, with a goal of eliminating maternal death.
When I hear "only 800 kids have died of COVID" or
“Whites, it must frankly be said, are not putting in a similar mass effort to reeducate themselves out of their racial ignorance,” MLK Jr. wrote in 1967. “It is an aspect of their sense of superiority that the white people of America believe they have so little to learn.”
The Rabbi who wrote these words after the 2018 Pittsburgh synagogue shooting is currently being held hostage himself with 3 other worshippers at his synagogue in Texas.
“Too many times in Jewish history we have faced tragedies without love and support.”
@chrislehmann Contemplating how to use the time I have before school tomorrow to get labs set up in case I am asked to cover classes during my collab/plan, as well as proactively trying to figure out what class could look like online if we are tasked with doing so.
#diabetes is the most expensive health condition for insurance companies, not cancer, because unfortunately cancer patients die at much higher rates than people with diabetes.
Please help protect our youngest population. They are the future.

This is what I am hearing over & over again with #teachers too. For some of us, we do get paid very well, while some of us, depending on the state/district, do not.
A lot of amazing #educators are evaluating living on lower salaries, and that is worrisome for our prof and kids.

“Never b4 have health care workers been offered such high salaries, stipends, & bonuses to do their jobs, but still the shortages persist. They persist bc $ fails 2 address the crux of the problem, which is that the morale & resolve of health care workers are @ all-time lows.”
“Coming back tomorrow?” I heard one bedside ICU nurse ask another. “Absolutely not. I’m off. You couldn’t pay me enough to get me here tomorrow.” https://t.co/wbYrgbDCQw
At this hour 2 years ago, Chinese media began reporting on cases with unexplained pneumonia in Wuhan. Here's one of the first ever media reports about COVID-19 https://t.co/0AkGqpR7We
@ChariFogel I agree that you have the capacity to care deeply about others yet still accumulate wealth. I think this article is referring to those who have A LOT of wealth, and who have relied on exploiting others to accumulate that wealth. Are there ways to make $$$ ethically? Sure!
“To accumulate wealth requires paying less attention to the suffering experienced by those that are exploited by that accumulation.”
So, the more wealth you have, the less you care about others.
Another reason why social emotional learning needs to be included in education.
@ChariFogel I know you will feel the same when I say that I have loved spending my money on experiences and making memories with my kids, as opposed to accumulating more “stuff”. We don’t get to take that “stuff” with us when we go… Love you, Momma Fogel!
