Per Benjamin Tal of CIBC, the avg. "Down Payment Gift" for a first time home buyer from a parent (money from a parent to a child for a home purchase) is $180,000. I thought the number was high, but never expected it to be that high for the average. That great wealth transfer...
@frankdoesntweet@JayOnLeafs He’s a year old. He’s not even close to as good. And Matthews still has 2 years left. Not to mention, if the Leafs do this, they are rebuilding. They can heavily retain salary to increase the value even more.
Chief heart surgeon at Jewish General Hospital quits province amid rising antisemitism in Montreal.

BREAKING: Masked Islamists in Montreal paraded a Jew being hanged through the streets.
Get every single one of these terrorists out of the West.
Enough of this.
@storylinefever@NightShiftMD Look at games 5, 6 and 7 of series. Leafs fans know he’s a good player who can put up points. It was his total lack of production in the games that really mattered.
@NightShiftMD We aren’t winning with him in the next two years before he leaves in free agency.
Matthews + Nylander would bring a kings ransom in trades and we have the 1st OA pick.
In 3-4 years we can ice a team that can actually compete for another 10 years.
Keeping him is mediocrity 101
@GearshiftMike@NHLRumourReport They are the perfect team to trade Matthews to.
Desnoyers (Top 6 center prospect)
Simashev (Top 4 d prospect)
1st rounder
Durzi (Solid puck moving d man)
@AU5T0N This was the mistake the Leafs made signing Marleau, then Tavares. They tried to expedite their rebuild.
This led us to lose all depth: Brown, Kapanen, Hyman, Kadri and many 1sts (including Jarvis) because of cap constraints/trades rushing the rebuild.
They aren't ready for this.
@AU5T0N They can be competitive for 8-10 years with Misa + their pick at 2. If they decide to trade 2, it will be for talent on their timeline
Trading to get Matthews gets them a guy signed for 2 years that will take them to the next level much faster, but it may only be for 2 years
You are 100 % correct Jesse. Anti-antisemitism is out of control. It’s sickening and inexcusable. Canadians need to speak out and urge our leaders to act. This is a Canada problem, not a Jewish problem.
@domluszczyszyn@MikeBartner Dom. The leafs need to do something like this
The free agency pool is garbage. Teams will be hungry for trades. The Leafs need to maximize value for their core that is not winning a cup and trade them
We can expedite the rebuild by a year or two doing a trade like this

The collective apathy (and amongst some groups support) of these daily attacks on Jews shows how the holocaust happened
I get it, hearing about antisemitism is getting annoying for many. But it’s the underlying societal rot that only starts with the Jews that should worry people

@JeffVeillette Uniquely different market this year. The cap isn't a constraint for most teams. There are few strong free agents, so teams trading for talent are in a weaker position
Retools don't work. See Pitt & Boston. In the playoffs, but not contenders. Trade our major assets and rebuild..
This is why you can’t have Claude agents “run” your marketing department without strong oversight.
Yes, HELOC’s can be hell, but that’s definitely not how it’s spelled…

@Thebigfaceoff Retools don't work. Once a team's had a prime for 7-8 years, unless they have sustained their development (i.e. Tampa), it's over. They may compete for a playoff spot. Maybe even win a round. But they are not cup teams
