Haven't posted anything because I'm realizing practicing animation is going to take the rest of my life, and fitting in room for everything is tough! But until forever comes, please enjoy my second face animation. I tried to add more subtle movements this time
@CraigABloom For example, in blender as a beginner I rotated every bone segment individually, in unreal it makes it a LOT easier to find spots to rotate and move whole limbs and the meta humans have a rig that naturally shift the weight, making things much easier to understand!
@CraigABloom In short, as a complete beginner I highly recommend unreal. I'm sure there's a ton more you can do in blender, but Unreal seems to be designed to be intuitively sought through vs blender being something I feel I need to be formally educated in. I use googles AI assistant for help
Testing out how the idle animations can look in-game, I haven't quite figured out moving the faces yet, but wow is it awesome seeing my character start to move around with more life (even with a default animation)
Tried Metahuman for the first to try to make unique arms, ended up character building for a while so I attached it to my NPCs! And to think I was gonna take her arms off
i needed a day to recooperate after manically jumping into unreal for weeks. It was a much needed break because now I'm actually starting to get the idea of line tracers!
When I woke up I didn't know how NPCs worked at all. When I woke up, the tiles lighting up beneath me would have been a dream. When I woke up I still learned to know how a light switch worked. I felt like a fraud. I proved myself wrong on day one. I'm proud of this
Today I hit a wall in Unreal Engine I created for myself because I didn't and still don't fully understand first person animation. I'm NOT done, but I am at a wall here. I am mulling over ideas, trying new things, and will have more to show next week. I will continue!
New video!
Sorry it's not the greatest quality! I was happy that I have enough space worked out to feel satisfied running! Now it's time to go through and think of ways to make it make sense!
More pipes to come, too!
Thank you for watching ❤️
It's not as much progress as the outdoor area, but today I'm working on making my areas look more defined. and trying to make a space feel more "lived in". The first picture was me looking at this chair, thinking "this looks like crap" and I'm happy! Not perfect, but better!
Here's an example of the in-game slow motion and the ability to traverse through non linear pathways.
The second video is recreated in real speed to show the difference!
If you have any advice, I'm totally open to hearing it.
And if you like what you see, more soon!
I've spent less than two weeks in unreal engine and it probably shows. However, it has filled me with an enormous amount of joy that I can't describe. Please enjoy some of my motion sickness early game footage🙏
