Women athletes deserve the same opportunities as men to compete, be seen, and be celebrated.

The proposed changes to the Sports Broadcasting Act risk diverting critical resources from the broader college athletics system, threatening the scholarships, facilities, travel, and visibility that women’s programs depend on. That could undo decades of hard-fought progress and cast women’s sports back into the shadows.

My sister was a Division I lacrosse player at Syracuse, & now my niece - an All-American lacrosse player - will follow in her footsteps there. I have seen firsthand how women’s athletics open doors, build confidence, and create opportunities that last far beyond the playing field.

College sports can & should evolve, but women athletes cannot become collateral damage in the process.

Congress must protect the funding and visibility of women’s sports in any changes it considers.

Norwell coach Jessica Davos: "I’m just so proud of my kids. They worked so hard these last few weeks to prepare, hoping that we’d get a rematch. They left it all out on the field."

On the rivalry: "Everybody is so invested on both sides. It’s not just the teams and the parents. It’s the whole town. It means so much to both sides to want to beat the other, so it’s fun. It’s tough tonight to be on the losing side of it after winning last year, but I’m sure we’ll be back and do it again next year." @GlobeSchools @ClipperAD

What makes this more impressive for Norwell is that the Clippers are continuing to put up numbers despite the loss of Syracuse commit and team captain, Lexi Davos (hip injury).

Numerous players stepping up today as the program looks to return to the finals, now at the Div. 3 level. 4:48 left. 5:00 left. @Murray_Jack_
