On this International Day of Persons with Disabilities, I want to thank the amazing team at @Rethink_Ireland for supporting our DPO @thriving_autist & helping us to scale our capacity and sustainability.
Allies are so vitally important as disabled people take up leadership roles

@brodstanaccount Right nevermind, I've just had a history lesson and I'm wrong in the above. We are not part of the British Isles but the the Atlantic aquaferius, or something that sounded like that.
@brodstanaccount Just to play devil's avocado: ireland is not part of of the UK, but is part of the British Isles. There are two sovereign states in the British Isles: Ireland and the United Kingdom. Mind you, don't dare call me British, as these days we have a different meaning for that word.
🌍 As a global community with Irish roots, we are closely following the upcoming referendum #CareRef.
Our board, in alignment with many disabled ppl, activists, orgs & legal experts, does not support the proposed change... /1

Autistic Voices Roundtable Discussions: Respect for Autistic Autonomy https://t.co/kP4ww5xa5a via @YouTube
I've just finished this; I was not all that fluent, lacking spoons lately. It did get me thinking a lot more about #AutisticAutonomy. What everyone else said was very interesting, and I must watch it again.
Not to be missed and only about 2 months away now. It's a hybrid event online or inperson. I'm looking forward to speaking at it. Both on lived experience and professional experience. Normally I only do one so it will be fun to do too. #Neuroaffirmative#ActuallyAutistic#April #kildare #AutisticConference
Meds is a large area, What are we counting as meds? Psychiatric meds? Physical health meds? Only prescribed? Over the counter? I wonder will differnt people understand this question differently. I know its not research. It would be interesting to do a poll to see how many autistic/Neurodivergent people have ever been put on psychiatric meds in their lifetime.
@OglesbyMegan Thanks Meg, yes please DM, I'd love to know more your perception as a student and how you found it. I've read the course description too, but just hearing even similar information from different perspectives can help build a fuller picture of something.
As the second last person said, yes, but we have a long way to go. Eek, this language is so important because neurodiversity is not about segregation or a synonym for Neurodivergence. Neurodiversity is about everyone. And you can't have neurodiverse people you can only have neurodiverse groups!!! For individuals who are Neurodivergent, the word is Neurodivergent. Neurodiverse groups contain a diversity of neurotypes. Please please please try and get this right. Our language informs are comprehension, our perceptions, our beliefs and how we act. This is soooo important.
