My session is about how even - and especially - ordinary people can apply movement organizing principles to our housing problems of segregation, scarcity, and unaffordability.

Their three reasons are literally the reasons Iโm attending. ๐ but Iโm also so excited to get deep under the hood of operationalizing equity and meeting other folks doing exciting and reparative work.
See you soon, #JustFutureSummit.

"Criticism can, and perhaps should, actively participate in the grander project of radical, reparative world-building, while also holding powerful actors in...city-making accountable for lackluster justice initiatives."
@AnjulieRao makes revolution irresistible.
Yet more ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ from one of my favs, โฆ@AnjulieRaoโฉ:
โNo longer is this [merely] a question of who has nicer urban amenities; โwho gets whatโ is a tired trope.โ

This is a large community, and thereโs been a lot of momentum here behind work that matters. But itโs time to shift energy.
Because I care about relationships and how work gets done in the offlines, Iโll be switching my short-form energy to Bluesky for now.
I keep a spreadsheet to help me remember what the heck I'm doing while I #AmQuerying, including noting who might feel really warm about the book I'm proposing.
I don't wanna jinx it, but this person just requested additional materials...

Attending @ClimateInnov8's session on Participatory Policy Development...I feel like I've learned more before the first break than I have in a minute.

@akgood I don't know what the sets of rules are about concrete curbs but I can tell from how we're installing them in A2 that they're less restrictive. So, yes, it'd be great to move to those instead of the traffic equivalent of this.
@akgood To some extent it's a state problem. MDOT limits the types of barricades cities are allowed to install. Actual bollards, aka something that will hurt a car before a person outside of one, are prohibited in many cases.
@sstrudeau Incentivize affordability by subsidizing some construction costs if ADU is rented at substantial affordability for X years, usually 15. Santa Cruz does. It isnโt a huge influx of units but it adds to the cityโs affordable housing stock and income-integrated neighborhoods.
