Thinking of everyone at TVNZ as you head into meetings today. We know there are feelings of anxiety, sadness and uncertainty around proposed strategic changes. Our DMs are always open if you need to chat 💙
We still get complaints about use of te reo Māori on TV/radio. It’s no breach of standards to use a national language & we no longer consider such complaints. Kua mutu i te BSA te tirotiro amuamu mō te reo Māori. See our 2021 statement in Māori & English: https://t.co/riqKgvGZVu

Absolutely beautiful bulletin from Newshub last night — their work is so important and its closure is a significant loss to this country. A very sad day for journalism.

Personally, this scares me. As a member of the New Zealand public it scares me that there are less journalists holding power to account, asking the hard questions and ensuring the world is fair for the little guys. That is the Journalist’s job. If Journos can’t do that, who can?

The closure of Fair Go, Sunday & Newshub is a terrible loss to the media industry - the media needs a diverse range of voices. Journalists speak, & advocate for the public and now that will be significantly harder to do. What a terrible day for media & for everyone in New Zealand
Love to see a hateful intent recreated to a show of support! Being able to share stories of rainbow joy, rather than rainbow hate, is always a pleasure 💖🏳️🌈

@MavaMoayyed Mava, I know we haven’t interacted in the office, but next time I see you I’ll say hi. I hope you and the Sunday team know just how valuable your words, advocacy and activism is. 💖
I read this a few days ago before it was published and it’s stuck with me. Just so we are clear, it’s brilliant, talented journalists like Mava that are at risk of being let go from TVNZ. The journo industry in NZ is in a crisis and something needs to happen, fast.
