Animal cruelty should never be dismissed with the words, “They’re just kids.”

When a young person deliberately harms a defenseless animal, the situation must be taken seriously. Animals feel fear, pain, and confusion, but they cannot stand in a courtroom and ask for justice. They depend on adults and the law to protect them.

Serious consequences do not have to mean giving up on a child forever. Accountability can include mandatory counseling, education about animal welfare, community service at a supervised rescue organization, and legal consequences appropriate to the severity of the abuse. The goal should be to protect animals, understand what caused the behavior, and prevent it from happening again.

Ignoring cruelty because the offender is young sends a dangerous message: that an animal’s suffering does not matter. Early intervention could protect more animals and help troubled young people understand empathy, responsibility, and the lasting consequences of their actions.

Age may affect the kind of punishment given, but it should never erase accountability completely.

The poor puppy was adopted twice and returned by - sorry not sorry- obviously totally retarded people. It’s her 3rd time in a kill shelter at only 5 months old by human failure 🤬 Look what these idiots have done to her. Cleo is listed as a “possibly dangerous dog” now. You can’t make this shit up. She’s just horrified, who can blame this little soul?! The “adopters” should sit in this shit hole and never be allowed to be around a living being again. Having that said…:

Cleo needs a breed experienced foster or adopter NOW to save her precious young life. She needs time to decompress, structure, much love and compassion. My Cali friends will suggest training also, though she’s just a baby and common sense would do the job in most cases. But given the evil little Cleo met in her short past, this is the best and safest way.

From being forced to breed with its own sibling before it was even a year old, to giving birth to puppies and then losing every single one of them on the very same day, and being abandoned by its owner the next day. At that point, it was terrified and heartbroken.
