Me: pays for word so I can write books
Also me: writes the first chapter of every novel in my phone’s notes app 30 minutes before going to bed

The reality of being a writer without disposable income is… taking annual leave only to continue working on my novel so by tomorrow, I’ll still be tired

#WritingCommmunity

[Saratoga (they/them) 🔪 SKSG out now! @SaratogaIsHere]

it’s a radical act to write a book while working full time because the system banks on you being too tired/overwhelmed to do anything else yet here you are making art that might spur creative thought and change in others and there’s nothing they can do to stop you!!!

My unfinished manuscript staring at me while I do anything else

(Work, clean, watch tiktoks… )

It’s all research, right?

Starting a new WIP for Writetober so here’s to the “Night Life Project” as it is unnamed. Time to write something gritty, greasy, and grim 🌃

7,600 words down in 6 days (including 3,000+ scrapped when I decided I didn’t like the start 😭)

Swapping from a 1st person WIP to a 3rd person and suddenly, I don’t know how to write

It has been a long time coming, but last weekend I finally finished the full draft for my first novel.

72,000 words, 4 years (a bit on and off 😅), 2 very different starting chapters, and 1 title change in the making.

Started adding some figures

[J *is writing(again?)* @Jessie_M99]

So far I have finished the first draft, started the second, and completely changed it 🙇🏼‍♀️ but it is on the move

8,000 words and counting (again!)

[J *is writing(again?)* @Jessie_M99]

Will this be the year I finally finish that manuscript? Let’s hope so #writerscommunity

Barely been on since this became X, and now I’m thoroughly out of the writing loop. So, show me what you’ve been up to since I was last here with a #writerslift

I want to know all about the new WIPs!

So last year I saved a penny for each page I read (so for example £3.34 for a 334 page book). Well I sort of did as I forgot to after a while. I added it up last night and I should have saved £241.60. I managed £156 and some change. So I think I’ll try and do the same in 2024.

Today, my laptop decided to give up after 55k of my first draft. I think it must be tired #WritingCommmunity

If anyone has a favourite laptop for writing, I’m in the market

Haven’t done a #writerslift in a long time but it is good to be back and stretching my… legs?

Finally picked up my WIP The Pitmatics again after a little time away and it feels good to be writing creatively again. Here comes the final push! #ShamelessSelfpromoSunday
