Es difícil no sentir rabia e impotencia ante una medida como esta. Que el gobierno de Estados Unidos prohíba el ingreso de venezolanos con visas legales, no solo es injusto, es profundamente incoherente.

La administración Trump justifica la decisión alegando “problemas con los documentos venezolanos” y “altas tasas de sobreestadía”, pero lo que no dice es que muchos venezolanos han debido emigrar precisamente porque sus derechos y libertades fueron arrebatados por el régimen que este mismo gobierno dice combatir. Castigar a las víctimas mientras se condena a sus victimarios es una contradicción moral. Muchos de los afectados son jóvenes con becas, familias que visitan a sus seres queridos o personas que solo quieren estudiar, trabajar o conocer otro país. Es indignante que se utilice la narrativa de la seguridad nacional y aún más doloroso que se haga bajo la excusa de “corregir fallas del sistema”. Esta no es una decisión técnica: es política. Y como tal, no puede ignorar el costo humano que impone.
