we're not really interested in the message of repentance from sin & salvation from hell.
Their interest was to implicate Jesus & have occasion to arrest Him but failed.

The Pharisees & the Herodians were both religious & political leaders who were uncomfortable with Jesus & His teachings.
They were always seeking ways to implicate Him through their religious laws, to silence Him but failed.
They resorted

But with wisdom & as a good citizen, Jesus asked 4 a coin on which Caesar's inscription was printed & said,
"Why tempt ye me, give 2Caesar what belongs 2him & unto God what belongs 2 God."
What belongs 2 God are the souls of men including that of Caesar.
