Cody Rhodes is scheduled to challenge Drew McIntyre for the title this Friday on Smackdown, and the expectation is that there will likely be a title change there.
One WWE source, citing there could always be changes in the direction, stated it was not a shot at Drew McIntyre's work but that the company wants to deliver Rhodes vs. Orton this year. Orton winning the Elimination Chamber was the start of the move in that direction, as the feeling was it provided a nice surprise in the ramp up to Wrestlemania and would give fans something beyond what they were already expecting.
There is no word yet where this could leave Drew McIntyre as of this writing. They could always pivot to a three-way bout, or McIntyre could face Jacob Fatu. This seems like a long shot, but they could always shoot an angle to set up McIntyre vs. Smackdown General Manager Nick Aldis, who still has yet to make his official WWE in-ring debut.

The #AZCardinals have informed QB Kyler Murray that they are releasing him, adding a key free agent to the market.
Murray is due $36.8M guaranteed for 2026 with offsets, meaning he’ll play this season for someone for the minimum.
Just in: The #Colts are placing the rarely used transition tag on QB Daniel Jones.
This allows Jones — who is coming off an Achilles tear — to become a free agent and receive offers from other teams. If he accepts an offer, Indy would have the right to match it.
