🇹🇭💀 The Thai Army: A History of Brutality Against Civilians

We’re often told the Thai army is a model of discipline, civilization, and restraint.

But history tells a very different story — one of massacres, coups, and total impunity.

🔴 1972 – Phatthalung Massacres (Red Drum Killings)

Over 3,000 villagers burned alive in red oil barrels, accused of being communists — without evidence.

🟥 1976 – Thammasat University Massacre

Students hanged, beaten to death, raped. Their “crime”? Daring to demand democracy.

🎓 One of the worst student massacres in Southeast Asia.

🟣 1980 – Dângrêk Refugee Massacre

The Thai army forced tens of thousands of Cambodian refugees into a minefield.

Thousands died. The world stayed silent.

🟡 1992 – Bloody May

Peaceful pro-democracy protesters shot in the streets of Bangkok.

📸 Cameras were watching. Still, no justice to this day.

🟠 2008–2011 – Preah Vihear Temple Clashes

Civilians bombed in a border dispute with Cambodia.

Deaths, displacements, and the use of cluster munitions confirmed by Human Rights Watch.

⚫ 13 military coups since 1932. All led by the army.

🔇 Zero accountability. Zero trials. Zero reparations.

👉 Behind the polished image of the Royal Thai Army lies a machine of violence — often turned against its own people.

These crimes are erased from schoolbooks, censored in media, ignored by the international community.

On 1 January 2026, in Oddar Meanchey Province, Cambodian civilians went to check their homes, which had been taken over by Thai soldiers inside Cambodian territory, far beyond the recognized boundary. When Thai military forces arrived, Cambodian women raised their hands in a respectful gesture (sampeah) and asked for permission to collect some essential belongings. The armed Thai soldiers did not allow Cambodian civilians to use vehicles to transport their belongings and ordered the Cambodian men to leave, before allowing the Cambodian women who owned the houses to enter briefly to collect a small number of remaining items. The Cambodian homeowners stated that most valuable property and household belongings had been stolen by Thai soldiers.

The conduct displayed by elements of the Thai military reflects a modern form of barbarism: unlawful occupation, looting, and the destruction of civilian property. Even more disturbing is that these acts are not concealed but openly documented and proudly shared on social media by the perpetrators themselves. Such behavior violates the most basic principles of international humanitarian law, military professionalism, and human dignity. An army that celebrates destruction rather than restraint exposes not strength, but moral collapse.

Cambodia-Thailand Border Situation Update
Reporting Period: 5:00 PM (Dec 25) – 12:00 PM (Dec 26)

1. 4th Military Region (Preah Vihear & Oddar Meanchey)
The Thai military intensified its invasion attempts using heavy weaponry and mobilization:
• Force Build-up: Tanks and additional troops were mobilized near Tamone Temple late on Dec 25.
• Artillery & Tank Fire: Continuous shelling targeted Preah Vihear, Tamone, and Ta Krabei temples, utilizing 155mm artillery and DTI-2 rockets.
• Infiltration & Chemical Warfare: Infantry attempted to infiltrate Phnom Kmouch and Choam Te, while toxic gas was reportedly deployed in the Tamone Temple area.

2. 5th Military Region (Banteay Meanchey & Battambang)
Aggression escalated through aerial strikes and attacks on civilian infrastructure:
• Aerial Bombardment: F-16 jets dropped approximately 40 bombs on Chok Chey village, destroying homes and public property. Drones were frequently used for both reconnaissance and bombardment.
• Civilians Targeted: Heavy 155mm shelling in Poipet Municipality injured civilians on National Road 58 and damaged property.
• Ground Infiltrations: Thai infantry, supported by tanks and armored vehicles, made multiple attempts to enter Chok Chey village.
• Chemical Use: Reports of toxic gas deployment in Chok Chey and Prey Chan villages.

Current Status: While some areas remain calm, Cambodian forces continue to monitor the border with high vigilance and are fiercely defending sovereign territory against ongoing attacks.

On December 26, 2025, from 6:08 AM to 7:15 AM, the Thai military utilized F-16 fighter jets to drop a massive barrage of up to 40 bombs onto the Chok Chey village area. This aggressive and inhumane act was carried out to devastate and destroy the homes of Cambodian civilians.

The aforementioned actions constitute a violent, cruel, and barbaric indiscriminate attack by the Thai military, representing a grave violation of international humanitarian law.

Thai people's behavior. These are just their memes mocking Cambodia. However, after they destroyed a Hindu god statue on Cambodia’s territory, some of their people felt no regret and instead made jokes about destroying Cambodia’s status—things that are completely unrelated to the border conflict. Those statuses have nothing to do with the issue at all.
While Thai people always claim that they never start wars and never invade other countries’ land, look at their behavior. Is this really the behavior of a peaceful nation? And showing that they are happy to destroy everything that is made by Cambodia, even the Hindu God.

What is Thai’s religion?
🇹🇭 Thailand is secular. Has no religion.
Cambodia strongly condemns the illegal destruction of ancient temples and shrines by Thai soldiers on the sovereign territory of the Kingdom of Cambodia!
- Buddhism Pagoda (Buddhist religion)
- Takrabei Temple dedicated to "Shiva" (Brahmin religion)
- Statue of "Vishnu" (Brahmin religion).

All ancient temples and statues in Cambodia were built as sacred places, not for decoration.
Thailand must be held responsible for its actions!

These were among the most horrifying and heart-wrenching scenes experienced by Cambodian civilians, following an act of aggression in which the Thai Royal Air Force launched deep-penetration attacks reaching Battambang Province on 24 December 2025.
