We are devastated by the attack on Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation in Manchester. Our hearts break for the two precious lives lost and all those injured. We mourn with their loved ones and stand with the Manchester Jewish community in this darkest of times.
I have spoken this evening to PM @Keir_Starmer about today’s appalling terrorist attack against our Jewish community in Manchester. I thanked him for cutting short an overseas visit to take urgent action. We are discussing additional measures to protect & safeguard our community.
The terrorist attack at a synagogue in Manchester on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, is horrific and appalling.
I know the Jewish community in Hertfordshire has been deeply affected by this barbarism. My thoughts are with you; you are not alone and have the support of decent minded people across our county in confronting anti-semitism.
I have spoken today with senior Herts Police officers and the CST about the security of synagogues in Hertfordshire. Both are working hard to keep people safe and extensive patrols are already in place for the High Holy Days.
To the police officers in Manchester who bravely ran towards danger to protect others - thank you for your service.

To support interfaith relations, we helped to fund the annual Camp Unity summer camp held in Borehamwood last week. The 5-day overnight camp for primary school pupils, aims to bring local communities together to promote friendships among children who might not ordinarily meet.
Board of Deputies CEO @MichaelWegier spoke to @VanessaBaffoe on @LBC News this morning about the @CST_UK’s latest Antisemitic Incidents Report.
"The level of antisemitic incidents in the UK remains at a worrying rate with the Jewish community under a level of threat not seen before the attacks on 7th October 2023. We thank the CST for their efforts to keep the community safe and will continue to work with the government, police and other agencies to ensure that every effort is being made to maintain the protection that our community unfortunately needs."
