Karmelo Anthony received 35 years.
A 19-year-old Black young man is now looking at a sentence that will consume most of his adult life.

But in the same state, the officers who killed Jordan Edwards, Atatiana Jefferson, and Botham Jean received less time combined than this one teenager will serve alone. That is not balance. That is a false weight.

Scripture says, “Divers weights, and divers measures, both of them are alike abomination to the LORD.” Proverbs 20:10

When the accused is a Black youth, the system knows how to be severe. When the accused wears a badge, suddenly mercy, context, and restraint appear.

You do not have to argue that Karmelo is innocent to see the injustice in the scales. The issue is not whether crime should be judged. The issue is whether judgment is righteous.

Christ said, “Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.” John 7:24

One young man gets 35 years, while men trusted with badges keep most of their lives after taking Black life.
Remember the name. Remember the number.
