The City of Ekurhuleni just announced some updates to its Resident Relief and Policy changes.

What really stood out to me are two things: approved indigent households will now get 10KL of free water, and there's a massive 75% write-off on outstanding debt #CoEBudget2025

Ekurhuleni is putting R3.5 billion toward fixing critical infrastructure problems everything

Here’s how the money will be spent:

R1.4b for energy upgrades

R550m repair water leaks

R946m to improve roads

R226m for waste management

R54m to deal with sinkholes #coebudget2025

Tariff Update
To help keep services financially sustainable, the City will be making the following adjustments to utility tariffs:

💧 Water: +15%

🚽 Sanitation: +10%

🗑 Refuse removal: +6%

⚡ Electricity: Adjusted as per NERSA guidelines
