When the air we breathe becomes a price we pay for progress,Have we really moved forward?
Skyscrapers may touch the clouds,
But what’s the point if we can’t see the sky?
Clean air is not a privilege. It’s a necessity.

Sonam Wangchuk has played a transformative role in shaping modern education in Ladakh. In collaboration with the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh and the School Education Department, he worked to make education more accessible and relevant to local students. At that time, education in the region faced several challenges: only 5% of students passed the 10th standard, most teachers were sent from Kashmir due to a scarcity of Ladakhi teachers, and textbooks were primarily in Urdu and English, making it difficult for local students to connect with the material.
To address these issues, Sonam Wangchuk and the authorities:
•Developed and printed textbooks in local languages and with references relevant to the Ladakhi context.
•Formed Village Education Committees (VECs) to strengthen grassroots education and involve communities in the schooling process.
•Founded SECMOL (Students’ Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh) around 1988, providing an alternative learning environment for students who had failed the 10th class and rethinking conventional education methods.
Beyond education, Sonam Wangchuk has contributed significantly to environmental and water conservation in Ladakh. He pioneered the Ice Stupa concept, which stores winter water as artificial glaciers for summer use, supporting both agriculture and the ecosystem.
Through his multifaceted work, Sonam Wangchuk has promoted quality education, preservation of local culture, environmental sustainability, and community empowerment, leaving a lasting impact on Ladakh’s social and educational landscape.

Disinformation drive against Sonam Wangchuk continues: Now, 'investigative reporter' Vijay Patel has done 'research' to come up with the blatant FALSEHOOD that Wangchuk's father was part of CIA team that lost a nuclear reactor on Nanda Devi | @AbhishekSay

6th schedule not anti-development, explains @Wangchuk66: on the contrary, it strengthens grassroots democracy, promotes conscious development, and celebrates unity in diversity.

Dear Brothers and sisters of Ladakh,
I stand firmly with you, those who hurl abuses or call you names are nothing but misguided souls. They do not represent the true spirit of Bharat. I have seen with my eyes how bravely you have stood shoulder to shoulder with army on the borders, how the brave Ladakhis son’s and daughters of ladakh scouts have shed blood and sweat for our motherland.
Please do not let your honest struggle get hijacked by political agenda, government will fulfill its promises. Your courage, integrity, and love for the nation shine brighter than any propaganda.
We salute you always. Jullay! 🙏🇮🇳.

A little Ladakhi boy salutes our soldiers. Patriotism flows in every Ladakhi’s blood.. We are always there to guard our nation at the frontlines. Yet, today we are unfairly branded “anti-national.” This hurts deeply. Ladakhis have always stood for India, not against it.
