"A guy looked at my airplane the other day and said I wonder how many people I could have fed for the price of that airplane...
I replied I am not sure, it fed a lot of families at the Dassault factory where it was built. Iโm sure it fed a bunch of families that rolled the aluminum at the Alcoa factory. It surely fed a lot of people at the Honeywell factory where the experts built the turbines. It fed a whole company for a few weeks when I had them build me a new interior. It feeds the families of the linemen that fuel it.
Thatโs the difference between capitalism and a welfare mentality. When you buy something, you put money in people's pockets, and give them dignity for their skills.
When you give someone something for nothing, you rob them of their dignity and self worth.
Capitalism is freely giving your money in exchange for something of value.
Socialism is taking your money against your will and shoving something down your throat that you never asked for."
Yo Coloradoโthe reason you pay $1000 for a license plate instead of $40 is because they are hiding taxes as โfeesโ.
In reality we have the equivalent of a 14% income tax ๐ฑ @jaredpolis

Youโve done so much to showcase the great things about America and our great nation. Thank you. You deserve that honor to have met our beloved President Trump.
๐จ Speaker Johnson just absolutely NAILED IT:
"Marxism, communism, socialism...ultimately, IT LEADS TO DEATH!"
"It begins with the premise that there is no GOD."
"If there is no GOD, it means you don't have ANY individual dignity, liberty, or value that's inherent. You're just another social animal. You're just part of the herd!"
"And you know what happens to the social animals and the herd? They got to be directed, controlled, corralled."
"They may provide for them a little bit, give them some free stuff, but they're certainly going to take away their freedom. And ultimately, it leads to death."
"I told the students with their eyes getting a little wider. I said, let me tell you something, this idea of socialism? It's a Marxist idea. Marxism has led to the murder of tens of millions of innocent people in the 20th century alone!"
"It is a trail to death. And I'm here to tell you, it's wrong because it begins with the wrong premise. You cannot reject the founding ideal, the creed of America, and be able to defend your freedom."

BREAKING: Randi Weingarten's teachers union just PASSED a resolution declaring May 1st a "Day of Civic Action" for political protests.
They want students to do "trainings," "political education," and "marches and rallies"
They want to use your kids as political pawns.

Since I just attended the @Freedom4Teachrs conference in Dallas and spent a couple days hearing, thinking, and talking about teachers' unions, I have a new appreciation for just how wrong-headed these things are.
First, allow me a short diversion.
I could make (and have made) the case against public-sector unions overall. I won't again here except to say that with a private-sector union, whatever you think of them, there's a fundamental difference distinguishing them from a public-sector union: the employer involved is for-profit.
That is, the employer has an incentive that is eventually a hard line with regard to bargaining because the company must stay profitable to survive. This is not true with the government, where some bureaucrat or, maybe, a political apparatus (legislature, usually) has to approve some budgetary increase. Put plainly, there's no incentive on the side of "management" against a public-sector union not to give in to demand after demand after demand, and the only thing resembling an incentive (angry voters) is safely locked away behind multiple layers of bureaucracy.
My point is: there shouldn't be public-sector unions at all, or, should they exist, their remit should be extremely narrow.
That brings me to my main point. When we look at the purpose of education and we look at the purpose of a teachers' union (should they even exist), we find a profound mismatch that's located entirely in the assumed remit of the teachers' unions to begin with.
Put plainly, the teachers' unions exert enormous control over the education and upbringing of our children, and they have absolutely no authority whatsoever under any theory anyone can imagine to claim that control, at all. None. But they have it. And we tolerate it. And it's insane.
We have all seen huge problems with how corrupt the teachers' unions are. That's its own problem, and while it's a huge one and the center of much manipulation, control, abuse, and fraud, I won't get into it here. (And there are better people for the job than I am.)
We have also seen how the things they force and push for politically, including eventually control of curriculum, school administrative policies, etc., and lobbying for state moneys, are all overtly (hard-Left) political projects. What we forget is that this has nothing at all to do with the purpose of a teachers' union, even in theory.
The purpose of a teachers' union as a public-sector union (or even a private one or a public-private hybrid one) is to advocate for the employment conditions of teachers against their employers, who are most often the local and state governments.
That's it.
Nothing in their remit says anything about how kids should be educated, curriculum, administrative policies, school funding boondoggles, ideological visions, or anything of the sort.
Teachers' unions exist to bargain on behalf of member teachers against their employers for adequate, good, or better working conditions, as the situation might be.
The NEA, for example, therefore has absolutely no reason whatsoever to be pushing curriculum guides on "Education for Global Citizenship" or "Education for Sustainable Development," which they do, among so much more.
Every theory of parental rights I'm aware of sees three fundamental entities in tension regarding the rights of a child, particularly where the issue of education is concerned: the parents, the children themselves, and the state. The teachers' union is not on the list, but they have assumed that authority in spades.
Proponents of Natural Law and Biblical approaches recognize the effectively inalienable right of parents to direct the upbringing and education of their children. Everyone with common sense knows that part of a parent's job is to judge for themselves in close contact with their children how the expansion of individualism (rights) will develop and expand over time under the auspices of the parent until legal adulthood. The state is regarded as a safeguard of last resort only in extreme situations of abuse, neglect, or being orphaned.
On the Left, they try to increase the inherent rights of the child to work them as levers and wedges against the parent so that when a gap develops the state can fill it, very often through the schools and sometimes much more aggressively (child protective services). This has been a big controversy with gender trafficking problems in over a dozen states, where states consider it abusive not to "affirm" a child's chosen (fake) "gender identity" and step in as though there's real abuse, effectively kidnapping and/or trafficking the children out of their parents' care.
Nonetheless, even on the Left, nowhere is there some theory that the UNIONS somehow have a claim to direct the upbringing and education of children.
Unions, which are strongly favored by the Left, are a collective bargaining instrument for teachers (an instrument of the state) against their employers (other instruments of the state). Their purpose is not to have any direct hand in the upbringing and education of children, but because they exist to leverage instruments of the state, and the state is seen as a key object in the upbringing of the child, the unions have been allowed to usurp this role. It's insane.
Imagine if you even can that the teachers' unions were doing exactly what they should be in a kind of idealistic way, no corruption and no political agendas. Even then, they should have no say in the upbringing or education of children. What I mean is that their bad behavior isn't the reason they're wrong to be controlling EDUCATION.
It is their job to represent teachers in employment concerns. That's their whole job. It is, in fact, their raison d'etre. They have no other purpose for exiisting. At all.
Why have we allowed them to become hugely influential lobbyists for the way schools are involved in our children's lives, upbringings, and educations, then? Why do we tolerate this?
As I said at the start, I am against public-sector unions almost entirely, on principle, unless they have an extremely narrow permissible range of activities. I do not think the teachers' unions should exist, and I think we should seek to solve whatever real problems they exist to solve by other means entirely.
That said, no one at all should be for a COLLECTIVE-BARGAINING ORGAN to be dictating the means, methods, and contents of a significant part of the upbringing and education of our children. It just IS NOT WHAT THEY DO. It just IS NOT WHY THEY EVEN EXIST.
Total insanity.

The teachers unions will say anything to keep good teachers from finding out who we are.
