🆘 Sweet Helen’s Time Is Up Tomorrow

Please share!

[Leisha @LoneStarChica]

🚨This is absolutely not the update I wanted or expected to share.

As of now, Nell and her puppies are still at the shelter, with a firm, urgent deadline of today, 1/8, at 1:00 PM.

I learned late last night that the shelter reported Nell has recently become aggressive toward staff and her puppies. Because of this, rescues have withdrawn interest, with some stating they cannot take on a case that may require a behavior specialist.

I had planned to step in and pick up Nell and her pups myself. Initially, I was told they would need a rescue to sponsor them and that I could apply to foster through that rescue. However, I am now sick with the flu and am physically unable to pick them up, even if circumstances changed.

This morning, I contacted the shelter again and asked whether we could use our pledged funds to prepay boarding for this family as a temporary solution to save them. I reminded them that we have raised over $1,700 in pledges on X alone, and that Nell’s story has reached nearly half a million people. I truly believe all of us will lose our minds if this family is euthanized despite this level of support.

I am waiting to hear back from the shelter and will update you as soon as I know more.

Please keep Nell and her puppies in your thoughts and prayers. 💔🙏
