🧠 It’s Dementia Action Week — and we’re proud to be sharing some powerful stories of our Music in Mind programme all week long. To start things off, here’s a special message from Mayor @AndyBurnhamGM

☕ You might have heard of our free Music Cafés. They support people living with dementia and their carers, using music therapy to bring moments of joy by making music together. Our work is underpinned by over 10 years of research and evidence from The University of Manchester.

🔍 We’re looking for more people to get involved in our Music in Mind programme that continues to expand across all boroughs of Greater Manchester.

❓ Towards the end of last year, we attended the UK Dementia Congress at Bridgewater Hall. We asked people how music can impact the lives of those living with dementia.

✌️ We believe in the power of music to transform lives on and off the stage. We’re proud to be at the forefront of the music and dementia conversation, and it was inspiring to hear so many perspectives, as well as to take part in a panel discussion with Andy Burnham on how we can push dementia healthcare forward.

🎯 Introducing our 25/26 Season

🗣 “The number one goal for all of us whilst playing together (our one Camerata goal) is how to touch the listeners’ souls with the spirit and emotions which are behind every note, harmony and phrasing!” - Gábor Takács-Nagy, Music Director

⚽ This Season, you’ll find us performing in an art gallery in Wakefield, on the pitch at the National Football Museum, in grand concert halls, and at our stunning home of @TheMonasteryMcr

🎼 There are new commissions inspired by the likes of visual artist Barbara Hepworth and Elvis Presley, and we continue our collaboration with Company Chameleon, blurring the lines between music and movement.

🫶 All of these concerts tell stories of individuals coming together to create something bigger.

📍 At the beginning of October, we hold a week-long event in our home of Greater Manchester, performing across all ten boroughs. At the same time, we will be launching ten brand-new Music Cafés for people living with dementia and their carers as part of hosting the Centre of Excellence for Music and Dementia.

🏆 Pet Shop Boys, Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe have been listed in The Guinness Book of Records as the most successful duo in UK music history, and the duo will now receive the inaugural MTV EMA Pop Pioneers Award in recognition of their contribution to the world of pop music.
