@RutgersAltRoute A5: Assessments have to continuously be reevaluated and the best avenue for assessment is when the students don’t realize they are being evaluated. This allows for a more open mind and for students to feel free to make mistakes - allowing us to learn from their learning process.

@RutgersAltRoute A5: A culture of empowerment in speaking up needs to be established so that those who witness bullying are willing to step up. Once They have done so, continued support needs to be provided to those who were bullied so that they feel safe in their environment again. #AltRtEd

@RutgersAltRoute A4:HIB poses challenges to students engagement in the learning environment & a fear to participate in the classroom. However, HIB issues (hopefully before they happen) can lead the way to the larger inclusion discussion & numerous learning opportunities about pro social behaviors

@RutgersAltRoute A3: I write a short note home each day for each student and write an email if there is a larger issue. I also call or email 2x/month with a positive! This gives plenty of opportunity for collaboration with parents on all aspects of their student’s behavior! #AltRtEd

@RutgersAltRoute A2: Have a conversation at the beginning of the year to set expectations early. Hold students accountable to those expectations immediately but with a mindset of understanding so that they can learn how to better be a part of a positive classroom!

@RutgersAltRoute A5: I send home a daily letter to parents with simple information about their students day. Biweekly parents receive an email with a list of positives, progress, & fun pictures! I find that my parents especially love seeing pictures of fun engaging activities in school! #AltRtEd
