So excited to start work at MARCH! I'll be building from the fantastic public history work by @ProfMires and team as well as starting new initiatives in the environmental humanities with researchers across campus and regional community organizations
We won job security for NTT faculty in the form of presumptive renewal. We won an amazing 33% raise for grad students. We won 2.4 million dollars in community grant funds for our hosting communities. We won a flat dollar raise for our amazing EOF counselors. So much going on!
want to say how proud I am of what the union and esp the bargaining team was able to win in Trenton. Still working for BHS clinical faculty in their ongoing negotiations but the framework includes a 48% raise for adjuncts AND job security which is an amazing victory
Three Rutgers University academic worker unions (@ruaaup,
@ruaaup_ptl & @ABhsnj) have entered their 5th day of a historic strike.
"They want labor to be as cheap as possible," says union member @murchnik, of the "neoliberal" university system that benefits those at the top.
If you have a ton of followers here and/or don’t want to leave Twitter that’s okay. But this isn’t what mastodon is, how federated social media works, or what can happen with it. The propensity to declare “this is what this thing is” without properly understanding it though…
Academics. We all know that the federated structure of mastodon is really shit for academia, yes? Like, one of the relentless arguments made by administrators and academics alike is that we need to get out of our fucking silos, yes? Well, mastodon is silos all the way down.
With Twitter's change in ownership last week, I'm probably in the clear to talk about the most unethical thing I was asked to build while working at Twitter.

I’m going to stick around here for a little bit because Philly sports but I’m also on https://t.co/59YTqHqXKV for the great mastodon migration if y’all want to hang out over there
@JeffreyInsko Unwritten vol4 (Leviathan) starts from MD but the main character yokes narrative oceans/whale tails and ends up in the belly of the beast with Sinbad, Jonah, Munchausen, and Pinocchio. https://t.co/rch4pvk7pI
I’ll have y’all know that when they went down five I put my noise cancelling headphones on and pretended to read my book and not watch the game. So I’m taking personal responsibility for this win.
