Worked for Fox for 19 years after CNN, ABC and public radio including 3 years as anchor of Marketplace. I've been very fortunate. Now enjoying retirement.
@krauthammer Charles was the most thoughful man on the panel. Always a pleasure to see him. And he always remined us that he could get to Nationals Stadium in 7 minutes from Fox.
I insisted on having him on the panel when I was substituting. An amazing man with a powerful intellect.
@pete1258@brithume@AHMalcolm After having covered four Presidents, I can agree with Brit. President on first reference but given time restraints, Mr. Trump works as second reference. It is an honorific due any President, or other notable official.
Pres Trump accused Biden of slighting blacks. His remarks were more about Latinos- the different views of Cubans who were welcomed here, and Mexicans the Pres is trying to keep out.
Good thing the Adm dropped the payroll tax cut. SS is already going to run out of enough money to pay full benefits. That would have helped short term but hurt more long term. A familiar temptation for politicians.
Listening to a video of Ronald Reagan's humor. What a gracious and warm gentleman he was. No wonder he was so popular.
He too complained about press coverage and books by aides, but always with a smile on his face and a funny story on it's way. There is a lesson there.
The virus rescue efforts should remind Dems that the Federal government can't spend more money than it has forever-- precisely because emergencies arise that demand deficit spending. Congress will one day have to cut something precious, because there won't be enough money!!
Pres George W Bush warned against a pandemic in 2005 and sought money to prepare. Pres Trump would look bigger if he'd give others some credit instead of just himself.
Pres Trump is begging for contributions in the next 3 hours to get your name "proudly displayed LIVE during the State of the Union." 42 dollars is the request.
Pres Trump is raising money by promising to use donors' names as part of his State of the Union address. "...to have your name broadcast LIVE during" the SOTU address. Tweet shows a TV with names running in a crawl underneath the President speaking.
Pelosi is trying to gain support by arguing Republicans are trying to undermine Soc Security. She knows better. Soc Security is supported by SS taxes and operates automatically and even has a self correcting mechanism when baby boomers start to exhaust the trust fund.
While Dem candidates seem to be rethinking the Obama years, the DCCC, in birthday wish for the former President, says "We all know President Obama is our favorite."
The DCCC needs to tell those hoping to follow in his footsteps.
If only the Dems could find more money to give away. Handing out cash is a cheap way to curry favor. As someone once said, anyone who robs Peter to pay Paul can always count on the support of Paul.
The Dem arguments last night were a little disjointed. They lamented the layoffs of autoworkers on one hand, while calling to curtail the use of fossil fuels on the other.
