Jim Carrey has been a subject of a series of death hoaxes. What is the effect?
Imagine reading own death notice/obituary… family and friends reacting…
We will even believe or know for certain when (if) be dies?
“You’re okay, my boy,” … gently taking his son’s wounded hands, all pain subsiding as he whispered into his ear: “There is one spirit guiding all things. The universe, one verse… And us, you and me. Once through flesh. Now through memory. See? I’m in you and you’re within me.”
Father’s Day. It’s the little things:
“Winning the Halton County Speech Contest, my father in the front row, cheering so loudly the top plate of his dentures fell to the bottom of his mouth and, and—“
“This rhino bore strong resemblance to Rodney Dangerfield, the legendary comedian whom Jim had watched on the Ed Sullivan Show as a boy, not understanding the jokes but laughing because his father was laughing.”
“…squealing that his father would leave on his answering machine after jokes begun predictably, then ended in racing aphasia that left Carrey afraid that genes were prophecy, that they would, in time, deliver him to the same place where his father, Percy, suffered.”
“Fight it, Dad!” cries Jim, decades of anguish finding voice. “Why don’t you ever fight it? Why’d you take us here? Why’d you just give up like you did?” “The Fun Factory’s not the worst place to work,” replies Percy, with a shrug.
He recalled… his first stab at fame, decades before, aged eighteen, standing in line with his father, Percy, outside Toronto’s NIB, the National Institute of Broadcasting, a hustle promising to make a network anchor of anyone with eight hundred dollars and a free afternoon.
“For the name of a man is a numbing blow from which he never recovers.”
Name > Self > Ego > Suffering
Nameless > No Self > No Ego > Acceptance?

Imagine you found out you had 15 minutes to live. What would you do?
