Current "catholic societies" such as Spain, France, and Italy are no longer Catholic in the public sphere. The remaining symbols, names, and statues from Catholicism's former dominance will gradually be rooted out.

What I am saying is consistent with the Vatican's own 1965 Declaration Dignitatis Humanae, which committed Catholicism to the principle of religious freedom as understood in constitutional democracy.

By accepting freedom of conscience as a core Christian principle, Catholics came to accept Liberalism's claim that the public sphere must be governed by liberal values.

Since liberalism is inherently progressive, Catholics today largely accept the core tenets of progressive liberalism, including that children must be raised as liberals in public schools.
