Proud to join @Morning_Joe to announce my full support for our next POTUS, @KamalaHarris! She’s incredibly tough & smart, w/ the compassion and empathy to be a phenomenal president. She’ll bring our country together and move us past the anger politics we’ve seen in recent years.
Brereton Jones brought a culture of honesty and decency to Frankfort and changed the way things were done. He was a good, caring, and compassionate man who welcomed everyone with a big smile and hearty embrace. We are holding Libby and their family close.
Our hearts are hurting for the people of Louisville. As a former mayor, I know how it feels when our citizens are affected by heartbreaking and tragic loss. We join the Commonwealth and the nation in holding close the victims and the families of today’s shooting.
Governor Beshear pledged to build a new bridge across the Ohio River. Now, thanks to so many in both KY and OH, Senators McConnell and Portman, the Biden administration, and so many who worked tirelessly at KYTC, the Governor’s pledge will become reality.

Foster Ockerman was passionate about Lexington, was a student of the city’s history and knew our story better than anyone. He worked tirelessly to make sure that history would be recorded and always remembered.
It was good having @SecretaryPete Buttigieg in Kentucky today. Our team is committed to working with him to support our nation’s delivery systems, and to make all of Kentucky’s transportation systems as safe and efficient as possible.
John Y. was larger than life, a man with a big heart and a giant engine in his head. Always thinking and planning, he inspired others to think big too. Despite his success in business, he always said the best job he ever had was being governor and the blessing of public service.
About six and a half years ago, in a time of great pain, the community came together. It is truly unimaginable that this tragedy has happened yet again. We will always unite and fight back against hate and injustice and oppression.
Good to see our local elected officials at the Kentucky Association of Counties annual meeting. Exciting times for transportation and public service! Thanks to Commissioner Bobbi Jo Lewis and her team for presenting as well!
Everyone’s safety is important. Lexington is home, and the increased crime and violence is unacceptable. Bill Farmer has spoken out about this increase in crime and I’m grateful he has. That’s what leadership is all about.
Two nights ago, Bill Farmer’s home was vandalized while he & his wife, Kim, were having dinner in their kitchen. Bill is a former council member & now candidate for council-at-large. When I was mayor, I always respected Bill’s thoughtful point of view, even when we didn’t agree.
Joe Hall…what an inspiration and example for all time. He was a giant of a man who had the common touch, he loved UK, and it was symbolic of his passion for life, for family and friends, and of his gigantic heart.
Folks, we're seeing hazardous road conditions across the commonwealth. Please stay home. For the latest on traffic alerts and weather, please visit https://t.co/JIY1koALRe.
Gov. Beshear has set up a fund solely dedicated to helping the on-the-ground efforts going on right now in Western Kentucky, and to help with the relief that many families are going to need to rebuild. The Team Western Kentucky Tornado Relief Fund is at https://t.co/VeQDH9JnK7
The damage and the human loss from the overnight storms is truly heartbreaking. We are on the ground and responding with all available resources. Our prayers and thoughts are with all those affected by this tragedy.
Larry Hopkins was one of a kind. With a keen wit & sense of humor, he earned & kept the trust of Central Kentuckians, and never let us down. Larry was able to bring often opposing parties together to get things done here at home & in Washington…a task almost unimaginable today.
