@mrddmia Hitting Big Law should be easy. An entity tax (like the corporate rate) should be imposed at maximum individual rate, each entity (eg. Lawyer PC) should also be taxed the same, no PHV for firms above 50 lawyers.
Iran state media called me out by name today and threatened to confiscate my "property" in Iran, while confirming exactly the analysis re approaching oil storage crisis and extraction damage.
As far as the "property" I left behind: memories of waking up before sunrise in elementary and middle school, standing in line for hours for a subsidized bottle of milk. Getting my face slapped in elementary school for having a "western" haircut, or for not remembering the words to anti-American, pro-Khomeini revolutionary songs. No assets. Just pain and suffering. The regime is welcome to confiscate it.
As for the analysis, yes, their own state media now confirms it: the problem isn't tankers leaving, it's empty tankers getting back in to load. Block the empties → storage fills → pressure on wells → costly shut-ins. That's the squeeze. And they know it.
Navy’s Frigate Fiasco or Opportunity?
The Navy cancelled its tardy and increasingly expensive Constellation frigate - a class of ship all blue-water/global navies relay on - the U.S. has none since 2015… this is putting strain on the destroyer fleet to do missions like Iran blockade enforcement, Cartel interdiction ops in the Caribbean, and in war even escort duty (operational realities likely mean American shipping is on its own which was admitted by the Navy in Hormuz in March but also years earlier admitted in a Pacific conflict).
The risk with the current plan to terminate the Constellation frigate and revisit/redesign the Coast Guard’s National Security Cutter has high probability of added delays, costs overruns, and no delivered frigates this decade. This is unacceptable.
The opportunity is as the White House, Congress and the Navy for many years has asserted - to increase shipyard capacity and build large numbers of frigates (the Navy’s force design plans have long seen the need for 60-67 frigate). Importantly, the plan for Constellation shipbuilding was always to have two shipyards building them.
So unleash a horse race between Ingalls building modified National Security Cutters as a frigate, while Marionette builds a scaled down (the ship is 1000 tons overweight for its hull…) Constellation frigate. Then Navy operates and decides modifications for follow on iterations in design.
Let the race begin for more shipyard capacity, more frigates… the alternative and current path has a high probability of delivering neither.
