We commend the House Ag Committee for advancing the 2024 Farm Bill early this morning, a critical step in completing a farm bill this year. We especially appreciate the work of @CongressmanGT and members and staff on both sides of the aisle to incorporate many of Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever’s priorities in this legislation. We look forward to building on this momentum and working with both the House and Senate to pass a 2024 Farm Bill with broad bipartisan support that will benefit farmers, ranchers, wildlife, hunters, and rural communities.

“we help you navigate the conservation space”
For everything from Policy to Implementation in the Wildlife, Ag, Energy and Forestry spaces: We can connect you to solutions nationwide!
This year, for the first time, Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever will recognize a national “Volunteer of the Year.”
Over the course of the next four weeks we’ll get to know each finalist, and celebrate their accomplishments in the world of habitat conservation. The first volunteer we’ll highlight is Brian Miller, from the Mercer County Chapter of Pheasants Forever in Ohio.
The award celebrates the very best the organization has to offer — the members and volunteers who optimize the Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever mission, who seek to protect and grow our wildlife habitat, and who help ensure our heritage continues for generations to come.
We have chosen eight finalists (Four Pheasants Forever and four Quail Forever) for the award. The winner will be announced at the upcoming National Pheasant Fest and Quail Classic, which runs March 1-3 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

.@pheasants4ever & @quail4ever have been fantastic partners in passing historic conservation initiatives that will impact generations to come. Michigan’s wildlife and natural resources are part of our DNA. It’s an honor to receive the beautiful Conservation Champion Award!
Last weekend, longtime Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever employee Jim Inglis was honored by his alma mater, Mississippi State University. Inglis was one of eight former students inducted into the 2023 Alumni Fellows program and was recognized during MSU’s home football game against the University of Alabama.
Now a 22-year veteran of Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever, Inglis has served the organization in countless capacities — from chapter volunteer to the organization’s first farm bill biologist coordinator — to his current role as the director of government affairs.
“Jim’s career path shows just how dedicated he is to conservation,” said Ron Leathers, Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever’s chief conservation officer. “He’s been involved in our habitat mission at every level and continues to be a tremendous voice for the organization. His impact, not only on Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever, but on habitat conservation in general, is profound. Jim deserves this recognition and much more for his decades of service.”

In this opinion piece, @NWF, @trcp, @pheasants4ever, @quail4ever and @DucksUnlimited discuss how Congress can continue to build on the CRP’s success in addressing conservation challenges while benefiting farmers, wildlife and the environment. https://t.co/iMKel4dFik
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) today announced the acceptance of 2.7 million acres into the Conservation Reserve Program’s (CRP) Grassland sign-up, selected from a record-setting 4.6 million acres in offers. When combined with the enrollment of over 1 million acres during CRP’s general sign up, the program will accomplish a net gain in total CRP acres for the third consecutive year.
The sign-up news is especially meaningful in key upland bird states like Colorado (430,899 acres), Nebraska (417,865 acres), and South Dakota (325,443 acres), which saw the highest enrollment in the country during this sign-up. Once implemented, accepted offers in this trio of states will have immediate impacts for ring-necked pheasants, bobwhite quail, scaled quail, prairie chickens, and sharp-tailed grouse. Additionally, Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever are proud to employ more than 40 technical assistance staff in this region. In partnership with USDA, these team members assist landowners in submitting and executing voluntary conservation practice contracts from start to finish.

Three talented and ambitious members of PF & QF’s National Youth Leadership Council joined the Government Affairs team in Washington, DC on June 12 through 15. Olivia Palmer (MI), Lexi Huntimer (ND) and Jack Allen (KS) were accompanied by PF & QF Farm Bill Biologist Heather Francis to meet with members of U.S. Congress.
The NYLC stepped up to ask U.S. representatives and U.S. senators for “robust funding in the conservation title” of the 2023 Farm Bill and to “please reintroduce the North American Grasslands Conservation Act.” Each young conservation leaders also shared personal stories about their PF &QF chapters and their reasons for caring about wildlife habitat conservation.
Equipped with policy talking points PF & QF reference materials, and their own personal stories, the NYLC made a lasting impression on members of Congress, the US Senate and their staff! We also hosted parent chaperones Randy Huntimer, David Palmer and Matt Allen. The parents joined us for several meetings and helped promote the PF & QF mission specific to their state and chapters.
We want to thank all of PF & QF chapters, volunteers and members who support our grassroots advocacy work and our critically important Legislative Action Fund (LAF) making these efforts possible.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) today announced the acceptance of more than one million acres into the Conservation Reserve Program’s (CRP) general signup. Learn more at the 🔗 link below.
These acres, combined with the anticipated enrollment of CRP’s grassland and continuous sign ups, will help offset the 2 million acres scheduled to expire in 2023 — resulting in a net gain in total acres for the third consecutive year.
“Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever are excited to celebrate another successful CRP general sign up,” said Jim Inglis, director of government affairs for Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever. “These numbers illustrate continued demand for the program across the country, and we’re pleased to see the third consecutive year with a net increase in CRP acres.”
“We look forward to using the momentum generated by this good news as a catalyst for further investment in conservation as we work with our elected officials in Congress,” Inglis said. “Improvements to the 2023 Farm Bill could expand CRP’s ability to provide conservation options — helping to achieve multiple land use goals including increased wildlife habitat, improved water quality, soil health benefits, climate resiliency measures and safeguarding rural economies.”

Had a great trip to IA picking up an addition to our clan. Introducing Aries! We also stopped by the @JohnDeere museum in Waterloo as we are working on another family project. It also didn't take us long into our scouting to see and hear some roosters!! @pheasants4ever#teamGSP
