And "great grandma" etc. etc. also when you're being included in a former group and we used to call it "grandfathered in" what do we do with that? This is a very important topic for state government to deal with.
A lot of you know, when I dropped out of school at just 17 years old, I got my first job working at the Waffle House at College Park Road in Ladson. My parents told me if I wasn't going to go to school, I had to go to work.
From there I went on to become the first female to graduate from the Corps of Cadets at The Citadel, where I was taught discipline, accountability, leadership, and how to keep going even when things got tough.
From those experiences, I knew I wanted to make a difference. I came to Congress in 2021 the same way I came to everything else: ready to work and unwilling to back down. I have fought to secure our border, protect women and girls, support our veterans, defend the Constitution, and as always, put South Carolina families FIRST.
The girl who showed up to Waffle House at 17 with nothing but a work ethic is the same woman showing up to Congress every single day. I wasn't handed anything then. I'm not taking anything for granted now.
My message to the great people of South Carolina: No one will work harder for YOU.
