@SarahIronside6@TognaBologna666 The "controversy" is manufactured by the corporate media who do the bidding of corporate donors who want to make sure people they can't control get nowhere close to power.
Platner voters are doing better, by voting for him and ignoring the likes of you.
@JoyceCarolOates “Allen's disgruntlement that he isn't taken seriously as these great filmmakers”…what?
Allen champions Bergman and Fellini and never suggested he should be considered as great as them. And the character in Stardust Memories is fictional.
@JoyceCarolOates One of my favorite films of all time. It's a masterpiece of dreamy nightclub moodiness.
You gave up after that incredible opening sequence? What?
@CulturedChem@tobiaschneider This is a broad generalization. Teachers can enforce standards (I'm a teacher so I speak with some authority) but it can be difficult depending on many variables.
@CulturedChem@tobiaschneider This is not the fault of high school teachers. College professors have been lazily assuming that everyone is doing the reading for years.
@poeticdweller 1) It's not true that "anyone can read novels and poetry." Reading complex literature from different times and places is challenging. 2) Much theory is poorly written slop masking vacuous and superficial ideology. 3) Even the good theory needs primary sources with it.
@shawpwhat@JoyceCarolOates The problem is that the theory is presented as central. The literature itself is relegated to the background. That's backwards.
