@HeroDividend@moneywithkatie My primary gripe with your article on frugality shaming is you mentioned Buffett 3x in your first 100 words. Clearly @HeroDividend and the like not referring to him when they make these posts. Increasing your marginal propensity to save is the most practical path to wealth period
@moneywithkatie Bizarre instinct to tackle this subject from this angle. It’s akin to addressing the obesity epidemic by saying people are too obsessed with diet & exercise. When 60% of Americans live paycheck 2 paycheck (including half of high earners) there’s clearly a problem needing a lesson
@rajatsoni This is precisely the same reason why the cost of a college education continues to inflate. Only it’s worse in the sense that their is no collateral behind the loan and virtually no underwriting standards.
Definitely the future of television I had in mind was me having to google every movie I want to watch to see if it’s currently in one of its one-month windows on any of the seven streaming services I pay for. This is way easier than buying a DVD. I love it.
@singhcredible Got it. So running won’t destroy your knees so long as you do 3 hours of knee pre-hab a week, feet exercises, balance exercises, stretchy band stuff, stretch, warm up & become an amateur physical therapist in your spare time. I’ve found this to be practical and applicable advice
@paulisci Are you familiar with the labor force participation rate? Where prime age workers have declined steadily over the last two decades? https://t.co/iTwBumET9i
@MoneyJrod This is a deceptive way to describe these contracts. A 100k face amount policy (w/ 50k in cash value) upon your death the beneficiary receives the full benefit of 100k. The cash value is meant to be a living benefit for the policy owner. Do not twist a policy feature to be a scam
@realEstateTrent Behavioral economics at play. The perception is the market is slowing, deals of yesterday are gone. Better take what I can get. This is how price levels adjust long term
i just need people to understand that before cell phones we had to call landlines and your friend's parents would answer and YOU HAD TO TALK TO THEIR PARENTS until your friend came to the phone
As you become an adult, you realize that things around you weren't just always there; people made them happen. But only recently have I started to internalize how much tenacity *everything* requires. That hotel, that park, that railway. The world is a museum of passion projects.
@Molson_Hart In 1957 there was a series of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions that made parts of the Azores islands uninhabitable. A then young senator from Massachusetts, John F. Kennedy, helped open up immigration to those affected. My family and thousands more would find refuge here in MA
