People arguing on behalf of censorship have lost their minds.
I like to think of it by asking two questions.
Give an example of real world harm caused by censorship.
Give an example of real world harm caused by the lack of censorship.
If you have any understanding of history, and answer those two questions it becomes very clear that censorship has the capacity for dire harm to entire cultures and societies.
The 1st amendment is the strongest defence against despotic rule. The founding fathers surely understood how damaging propaganda and lies could be, but decided the best way to combat it was with robust freedom of speech. Not some top down authoritarian control of the narrative, which during their time would have been even easier to implement than it is today.
The White House, NGOs, and news media say we need more censorship to reduce hate, but we don't. What we need is more free speech. The politicians, news media, and NGOs who are demanding censorship do so not to reduce hate but, rather, to increase their power. @galexybrane
Let's end energy poverty in Africa #LetsStopToil. The energy industry runs every other industry and thus we will end hunger and poverty and improve lives. An average African is using the amount of energy a person in France of Germany used in 1860!
