I *will* use Bob Costas’ play by play retirement to re-up the greatest college football open ever: Notre Dame-FSU 1993. I asked Bob about this a few years ago and he said unlike every other open he did, a producer wrote this: Bill Bonnell, now at ESPN. Thank you Bill and Bob.
It provoked this letter from a barely literate "Kluxer" to the President of ND. I think they should sells shirts at the ND bookstore with "Mackerel Snapping Anarchists" proudly displayed beneath the ND monogram.
Perhaps my favorite moment in Notre Dame history: when ND students charged into downtown South Bend to confront a rally of the KKK, mostly beating the Klan into submission. 1/
