If only it could fix the gaping Leading Man-shaped hole in the middle of the movie where blank-faced Orlando Bloom is standing. Everything and everyone else in the film is pulling up trees left right and centre. Eva Green in particular is cruelly served by the theatrical cut.
Ridley Scott’s Kingdom of Heaven is an example of a film that benefitted greatly from a director’s cut version. The director’s cut here is over 3 hours and fixes some pacing issues in the original. The director’s cut also gives us way more character development. Worth the 3 hours
And yet they blithely regurgitated the ‘Austin and Dr Evil are brothers’ bit in SPECTRE with a completely straight face. (And in terms of audience investment or impact it died the horrible death it deserved).
