Everything in life can be taken away from you and generally will be at some point.
Your wealth vanishes, the latest gadgetry suddenly becomes passé, your allies desert you.
But if your mind is armed with the art of war, there is no power that can take that away.
In the middle of a crisis, your mind will find its way to the right solution.
Having superior strategies at your fingertips will give your maneuvers irresistible force.
As Sun-tzu says, “Being unconquerable lies with yourself.
Your brain is wired to be more susceptible to negativity than to positivity.
In our ancient past, threats were important signals to our ancestors. The risk of ignoring a predator meant certain death.
Today, this is mostly an evolutionary mismatch. We're constantly overwhelmed by negativity. And assume our loudest critic to be the most accurate one.
As a result, your self-image gets dragged toward the worst thing anyone said, never the positive things or the average of both.
You need to recognize this as a cognitive illusion, potentially even a delusion, and stop treating your loudest critic as your most truthful one.
Some people say narcissists behave like toddlers. They throw tantrums.
Dark personalities are dangerous, exploitative & sadistic. When they don’t get what they want or lose control at worst they can kill somebody. The toddler metaphor is misleading at best, dangerous at worst.
Narcissists do not co-parent; they counter-parent. They do not care about the psychological damage they cause to their children, as they will blame all of that on you.
Not everybody, or just anybody, will soothe the loneliness many trauma survivors feel.
Our loneliness isn't just about lack of people-- & it's not solved by "connecting" w/ either random people or people who refuse to see what they see & know what they know.
