The BMW 2002 Hommage Concept: the modern BMW that looked like it came straight out of a racing era.
Unveiled in 2016, this concept was BMW’s tribute to the legendary BMW 2002 Turbo, the small coupe that helped create the brand’s reputation for performance.
With its wide arches, aggressive stance, retro headlights and sharp body lines, the 2002 Hommage blended classic 1970s BMW character with a futuristic design language.
It was never produced, but it represented everything BMW fans loved: a lightweight-looking coupe, motorsport influence and pure driver-focused attitude.
A concept car that proved BMW still knew how to respect its history.
BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage Concept (2015)
BMW brought back the spirit of the legendary 3.0 CSL “Batmobile” with this futuristic concept. Unveiled at Villa d’Este, the 3.0 CSL Hommage was built around the idea of lightweight performance, featuring a carbon fibre body, aggressive aero design, a massive rear wing, and BMW’s signature kidney grille reimagined for the future.
Powered by a 3.0-litre inline-six engine with BMW’s hybrid assistance, this concept represented the perfect mix of motorsport heritage and modern technology. Every curve, vent, and aerodynamic element was inspired by racing, while the bright Acid Yellow paint paid tribute to BMW’s iconic performance era.
It never entered production, but the 3.0 CSL Hommage remains one of BMW’s most unforgettable concepts, a reminder of what happens when history meets imagination.
