@NickKouvalis Harper also learned from his setbacks.
He didn’t spend a year relitigating 2004. He didn’t run around blaming everyone under the sun.
That’s the biggest difference of all.
Harper demonstrated the qualities of a leader when he was at his lowest.
@mileslunn Kory is saying the quiet part out loud, but it’s nothing anyone who’s enjoyed some success in the private sector hasn’t thought.
Poilievre and Scheer are clinging to their jobs because this is as good as it gets for them.
@CarsonJerema Either the CPC is a big tent or it’s not.
If it wants to win elections, it absolutely needs red Tories in that tent.
If it wants to sit as a regional rump perpetually in opposition, then it should continue these ever-narrowing purity tests.
🚨 NEW: Keir Starmer will attend the World Cup final in New York if England beat Argentina on Wednesday
He will then fly back to London to officially resign as Prime Minister on Monday morning
@Smileyyeg He also said yes to Matrix Resurrections - which was cringe.
His choice in scripts is highly suspect.
Also, Constantine isn’t a movie that needs a sequel.
@Prominent_Bryan@JefferyPetts How many of those international examples were bound by the clarity act?
One of us is actually serious, and I have some bad news for you…
@Prominent_Bryan@JefferyPetts It’s delusional to think the bar would be much lower than this.
Eligible voting population and turnout will absolutely be factors in determining whether a result represents “a clear majority”.
@JefferyPetts@Prominent_Bryan A relevant precedent under common law would be Brexit 2016, which saw the UK leave the EU with a bare majority of votes cast, and just 42% of eligible votes.
Nearly 60% now believe it was a mistake.
This is why the Clarity Act does in fact rock
@JefferyPetts@Prominent_Bryan “Clear majority” represents more than just the final tally - one would need to consider voter turnout, as well as any other relevant circumstances (demographic, regional)
A clear majority would probably require something like 65-70% Yes with an 80% turnout.
