In May of 2026, Michael set new records including becoming the first artist in history to have 100 weeks’ worth of #1 placements on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, with “Thriller” hitting #1 again 43 years after its release. https://t.co/X9oMHFhYsv
The Obama Presidential Center opens to the general public on Juneteenth after a celebratory dedication in Chicago with dignitaries. The roughly $850 million project covers both the political and personal realms of the nation’s first Black president.
Rob Gronkowski says he lived off $50,000 as an NFL rookie because he understood the NFL meant "Not For Long"
"My agent gave me a $50,000 advance for what's going to come in the marketing world for myself. I just had to pay him back within the first $50,000 I made"
"I was able to purchase my first car, which was a 2008 Escalade, and then to be able to pay rent once I got to New England. And then from there on out, I really didn't need any other money"
"I was getting free meals at the facility. I just kind of needed gas money. You go out, the drinks are free or you pay for one, you get 10 free when you're when you're on the Patriots up in the Boston area"
"So I wasn't really spending much money at all, especially when it got to the season. I mean, you're inside that building and everything's handed to you on a daily basis from breakfast all the way to dinner"
"I just lived off my marketing dollars. I was living a low-level life. I had a condo with a roommate that was on the team as well. We're paying $1,500 a month in rent while in the NFL"
"I was very frugal and that's how I got away with it. Not having any lavish purchases, the first couple years in the league and just banking away what I was making because I truly understood that the NFL stands for not for long"
People will be studying Wemby’s two-week summer retreat with Shaolin monks in the Chinese mountains for decades to come.
Best details from Ramona Shelburne:
▫️slept on three single-beds pushed together and woke up 4:30am each day
▫️meditated several times a day with 100 other monks and length was determined by burning incense wick (“Thirty minutes was doable. But sometimes the incense burned for 90 minutes,…[it is agonizing for someone] 7-foot-4 to sit cross-legged at all, let alone silently for up to 90 minutes, without moving.”)
▫️spent 6-8 hours a day learning Shaolin kung fu poses (“Master Yan'an said he designed Wembanyama's customized martial arts training to emphasize controlling his center of gravity, which would generate force from different positions and resist external forces, to mimic the double-teams and physical play he'd face from NBA opponents.”)
▫️ “One day he told Wembanyama to dribble a basketball up another dangerous mountain route to Sanhuangzhai, a monastery deep in the Song Mountains. The hike traversed cliffside plank paths, suspension bridges and ancient forests, and was five times as long as the one to Bodhidharma Cave. The trail forces you to climb roughly 2,500 feet in elevation across uneven ridges and stone.
Master Yan'an said it would take an average person seven to eight hours to reach the end.
Wembanyama did it -- while dribbling a basketball -- in four and a half.”
▫️On the 6th night, he did a pitch black hike in the Bodhidharma Cave (“There were no lights anywhere,” Master Yan'an said. “You can't see anything. The only way to go is step by step. Listen to your breath and listen to your heart. Feel each step with your foot. Use your awareness. The entire point of this training…was to free your mind from fear and trust your awareness to guide you.”
▫️”Wembanyama ate the same strict vegetarian diet as the monks while he was there, in accordance with Buddhist principles.
But several times a day, his team arranged for a Sprinter van to pull into the monastery, pick up Wembanyama and drive him outside the walls of the temple, where someone would deliver a high-protein meal from a local restaurant. He would eat it inside the Sprinter van, dispose of any remaining meat, then be driven back inside the temple.”

“it really means the world to me that you saw the film and that you loved it, and that you saw it 5 times that’s pretty amazing….. and i hope you enjoy the next one!”
James Worthy on how the showtime Lakers would do in today’s game:
“The athlete today is a superior athlete. Okay. The approach, the stamina, the way they approach the game. But still for me I mean if I got to pick a point guard to start my team, I’m going Magic every time. And he could play today. He’s got pace. He’s got size. I’m not going to say we would dominate. A lot of people say, “Oh, we you know with Kareem and Magic we No, I don’t think we would dominate, but I think we could hold our own.”

KOBE. LEBRON. WEMBY.
Victor Wembanyama joins Kobe Bryant in 2001 and LeBron James in 2007 as the only players this century to lead their team in scoring entering the Finals at 22 or younger 🤯

In Wisconsin, a graduate was forced to stop on stage when his diploma couldn't be found.
That's when the school said a person traveled thousands of miles to deliver it to him.
It was his sister, returning from military service, for over a year. ❤️
I texted Aaron Donald about coming out of retirement and playing for the Rams, alongside Myles Garrett:
“I’m for sure flirting with the idea. Helluva an opportunity with the Super Bowl in SoFi this year. If I can find the fire, it’s a possibility.”
On the ‘Good Hang with Amy Poehler’ podcast, Tom Holland credits Janet Jackson as one of the key figures behind his career success, citing her influence on his dance background.
“To be perfectly honest with you, I really feel like if you asked me to list five people who have been integral in the success of my career, she would be one of them.”
Venus Williams on Serena's return:
"I think she's a bit of a natural. She has a pretty good record 😂 She knows what she's doing. She's very tenacious. I'm not worried about how she's gonna play even though I haven't really seen her play it's so crazy"😂
The GOAT is still making chart history.
Michael Jackson just became the first and only act to earn a new Billboard Hot 100 hit in each of the last six consecutive decades, spanning the 1970s, ’80s, ’90s, 2000s, 2010s, and 2020s.
His song “Chicago” debuted at No. 30 this week, marking his 52nd career solo entry and first lead-role Hot 100 appearance since “Slave to the Rhythm” in 2014. The track was officially released 12 years ago and was reportedly first recorded in 1999.
Some of y’all might be too young to remember but this song had all the soap operas in a straight up chokehold in the 80s.
Can’t believe Roberta and Peabo are gone.
RIP 🕊️
It's #BlackMusicMonth! "You Send Me" was recorded at Hollywood's Radio Recorders in June of 1957. The song, Sam's debut single, was a massive commercial success, becoming a No. 1 hit on both Billboard's R&B chart and the @billboard Hot 100. It was later inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.
