Boss: Good, and I'm setting up a meeting at 5 PM on Friday, but your schedule says you aren't available.

Employee: I will be ending work at 2 o'clock on Friday.

Boss: What? Why?

Employee: Because I work a 40-hour work week, and since overtime isn't available, I'll just take the extra hours that I'm working on Thursday and take them off my day on Friday so it evens out.

Boss: So you're telling me you're not just working late on Thursday because you're passionate about this project?

Employee: I do care about this project, but I will not be donating my personal time to this company for free.

If the Second Amendment does not apply to this exact kind of moment, what do people think it is for?

A citizen can lawfully carry, see masked federal agents beating someone in public, move toward the scene to help, and then get erased with a hail of bullets because “he had a gun.”

That excuse is an insult in a country where possession is legal by design, where the whole point is that the public never becomes a disarmed audience watching state power operate with impunity.

I’m not interested in arguing frame-by-frame footage. I’m interested in the principle that a free people cannot accept a standard where lawful carry becomes a death sentence the second authority feels threatened.

If that is the standard, then the 2nd Amendment has been reduced to a vibe. The founders did not write it so Republicans could do militia cosplay on weekends.

This year I couldn’t make it back to my family in Chicago for Thanksgiving, so I’ll be spending it solo in SoCal unless someone wants to adopt me for a day. 😉

If anyone in the Orange County area has an extra seat at their table and wouldn’t mind a friendly stranger joining, I’d be very grateful. I promise not to show up empty handed and bring a dessert/wine, I’m more than happy to chip in for groceries, and I’m a pro at dishes and cleanup afterward. No pressure at all just thought I’d swallow my pride a little and shoot my shot.
