@AndySocrat800@TedRall ?? I agree with the Lancet Study. I’ve noted now 3 times that this number is significantly higher than other estimates I trust (like the lancet study). My only defense of this number is that’s it’s within the correct order of magnitude.
@AndySocrat800@TedRall It does if you agree with the methodology that produced said “other made up numbers”. I do also want to emphasize again that this number is actually higher than other estimates that I’ve seen, so I don’t regard it as extremely accurate, but it’s in the correct order of magnitude.
@AndySocrat800@TedRall A total count would include the unidentified dead, indirect deaths from disease and starvation, and unrecovered bodies under rubble. For these we will never have anything better than an estimate. 400,000 is certainly higher than others I’ve seen, but not by orders of magnitude.
@AndySocrat800@TedRall Counting deaths from war isn’t straight forward. The Gaza health ministry, under incredible scrutiny, releases conservative figures that include only direct deaths of identified people. As in they have a list of 75,000 names. The total is certainly much higher.
@lindaf35@saint_cloudy Jennifer and James Crumbley basically did exactly that. In the end, they were convicted of manslaughter. I’m all for holding parents accountable for enabling their children to commit horrific crimes
@JakeSkywalker69@DH_88x@Broken_Imp@notabotdunks@zellieimani I never said drive over someone. Nice strawman. The only account of the incident we have states they weren’t aware the cops had targeted them before they got in the car. By standing in the path of the car the cop put himself in danger against his own training. Now a baby is dead.
@JakeSkywalker69@DH_88x@Broken_Imp@notabotdunks@zellieimani Minutes? Seriously? Where are you getting this information from? Wasn’t in any article I read. Besides it doesn’t matter. Disobeying an order to stop a car should not be a death sentence.
@DH_88x@Broken_Imp@JakeSkywalker69@notabotdunks@zellieimani We’re talking about cops turning what would otherwise be a driver refusing a lawful order into a deadly situation by stepping into the path of a moving vehicle and using it as justifcation for a self defense shooting. No one has to die.
@BillionareHuntr@ScarTissue101@haug4_haug@hell_line0 Explain to me how shooting the driver of a moving vehicle about to run you over prevents you from getting run over. The car will still be fucking moving whether or not the driver is alive behind the wheel.
@cheez_swis4255@haug4_haug@hell_line0 There’s 0 rational to shooting at a car driving towards you. Shooting at car doesn’t stop it. At best you kill the driver and now the car is completely out of control and guaranteed to crash.
People had a very clear idea what they *wanted* this movie to be about and then couldn't handle that it was a story about the absurdity of war photography that specifically chose the American setting because Western society has become so desensitized to War in the Middle East.
One of the heavier burdens of feminists is that if it hadn't been for the grit and guts of previous generations of feminists, there wouldn't be a "Lady Chief Justice" who can sell out her foremothers.
If you really want to understand this, ask yourself what does this vague "support" mean in this sentence? It doesn't mean material support, or coordination or anything like that. It's strictly criminalization of opinion, of your conscience, when it contradict's the tyrant's.
@garrettbridges@ScriptTrooper Not to mention he walked into this facility as a credentialed test pilot with help from the inside. It’s really not shocking
