for those who aren't aware, @HyperliquidX 's spot alts auction mechanism is limited to one new coin every 31 hours, & you have to buy the auction slot to get listed
& it is all native protocol revenue for the L1
the new starting auction price is 2x the prior auction price & then goes down linearly until someone buys it
whole timeline talking about Hyperliquid and the current cohort of HL eco coins. contrary to the consensus view i think it is not a good time to allocate big to $purr, $hfun and co. i think one would be better off holding $HYPE and allocating to new HL eco coins later.
main reason for this is that the HL believers did allocate into these coins beforehand and they are now up multiples. what we are seeing now is a liquidity event to them. now, if $HYPE puts in a 20-30% correction these eco coins will be sold off hard. another risk scenario that is overlooked is majors heating up again. all these early HL adopters are perp traders. is not far-fetched to think that they will sell their HL eco coins, on which they are up giga, to have ammo for perp trading. thx to @pappageorge for pointing this out to me. a very good point.
another thing is that the current HL eco assets are mostly meme coins. Hyperliquid is the first "legit" thing in ages, the first thing that made people dream about decentralized financial infrastructure again. so i think the really big opportunities will be utility plays and not memes. i am looking for defi, lending markets, liquid staking, perp trading infra, terminals, synthetic assets etc. so my current strategy is to hold $HYPE, probably scalping some new launches and allocate bigger into utility plays later on, when the EVM is live.
ofc i can be wrong here. is all probabilities anyway. i am just not willing to top blast current HL eco coins and i think the best risk-adjusted decision is to just hold $HYPE for the time being.
