Para mí, aquí todo el valor está del lado de Jesper de Jong. Wawrinka es una leyenda del tenis, eso no se discute, pero a día de hoy este tipo de torneos ya no están hechos para él. Tiene 41 años y estamos hablando probablemente del torneo más exigente físicamente de todo el año. Aquí un partido se te puede ir perfectamente a cuatro o cinco horas si se alarga, y sinceramente no veo a Wawrinka preparado para sostener ese tipo de desgaste.

Ya el año pasado se vio algo parecido. Le tocó un rival que ni siquiera era especialista en arcilla y aun así compitió solo un tramo del partido. En cuanto el encuentro se fue haciendo largo y físico, se vino abajo claramente. Y eso, contra un jugador mucho más hecho para esta superficie como Jesper de Jong, me parece todavía más peligroso para él.

Porque De Jong sí es un jugador completamente experto en arcilla. Sabe perfectamente cómo jugar este tipo de partidos, cómo alargarlos, cómo hacer que el rival tenga que trabajar cada punto y cómo llevar el encuentro a ese terreno de desgaste donde Wawrinka más va a sufrir. Y ahí es donde para mí la diferencia se va a notar muchísimo.

Por eso, más allá del nombre enorme que sigue teniendo Stan, a día de hoy veo a De Jong clarísimo favorito y espero una victoria bastante contundente del holandés.
